Role Overview
The engineer will create and deliver station-wise machining process sheets, cutting-tool illustrations, and manufacturing engineering drawings for precision-machined components. The role requires strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, GD&T, engineering drawings, and controlled release of technical documentation using NX CAD and Teamcenter.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and review inputs from program, manufacturing, process and tooling stakeholders.
- Interpret component drawings, manufacturing requirements, tooling data, fixture models and machine information.
- Develop station-wise machining process sheets and detailed manufacturing documentation.
- Create cutting-tool designs and illustrations with all necessary manufacturing details.
- Prepare and update engineering drawings using NX CAD and AutoCAD, as applicable.
- Create assembly, part, fixture and tooling views, including required cut sections and designed views.
- Apply manufacturing GD&T and dimensional detailing in accordance with applicable standards.
- Classify, maintain and release 2D and 3D engineering data in Teamcenter or an equivalent PLM system.
- Upload approved process sheets and deliverables to designated project repositories.
- Review deliverables with manufacturing and program engineers, incorporate feedback and support final release.
- Maintain reconciliation matrices, work instructions, procedures, checklists and revision records.
- Prepare periodic status reports, issue summaries and technical recommendations.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of machining processes used for precision and powertrain components.
- Practical understanding of cutting tools, tool assemblies, fixtures, adapter plates and machine-tool fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience in NX CAD for creating and detailing manufacturing drawings.
- Working knowledge of Teamcenter for engineering-data classification, revision control and document release.
- Exposure to AutoCAD for reviewing or updating 2D technical drawings.
- Sound understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T application in manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret supplier and engineering inputs in 2D, 3D, STEP and STP formats.
- Ability to independently develop accurate process sheets and tool-illustration deliverables.
- Knowledge of manufacturing quality checks and first-time-right documentation practices.
Experience and Qualification
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in manufacturing process documentation, tool design/illustration, production engineering or machining engineering.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production, Automobile Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting automotive, powertrain, industrial machinery or similar precision-manufacturing programs is preferred.
