Job Summary
Sharda Diesels Private Limited is seeking an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Head to lead the procurement function. The role is responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing vendor relationships, ensuring uninterrupted availability of materials, negotiating the best commercial terms, and optimizing procurement costs while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in manufacturing procurement, preferably in diesel generator, engineering, fabrication, electrical, or industrial equipment industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company's business objectives.
- Manage end-to-end procurement of raw materials, electrical items, mechanical components, fabrication materials, diesel generator parts, consumables, tools, and services.
- Identify, evaluate, develop, and maintain reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, contracts, and delivery schedules to achieve maximum cost savings.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials for production and project execution.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with Stores, Production, Projects, and Finance departments for procurement planning.
- Develop alternate vendors to reduce supply risks and improve competitiveness.
- Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, technologies, and pricing trends.
- Review purchase requisitions and approve purchase orders as per company policies.
- Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, pricing, and service.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, statutory requirements, and quality standards.
- Prepare procurement MIS reports, vendor performance reports, cost-saving reports, and monthly purchase analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for procurement efficiency and process automation.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate the purchase team while establishing departmental KPIs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- MBA in Supply Chain, Operations, or Materials Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing or engineering organization.
- Experience in procurement of diesel generator components, fabrication materials, electrical equipment, industrial machinery, or engineering products is preferred.
