Energy Aspects produces energy and commodity intelligence used by the world's largest traders, producers, and financial institutions. Our geospatial team turns satellite and radar imagery into measurable signals on physical energy activity: storage levels, industrial output, emissions, infrastructure change, and wildfire risk.
Those signals depend on machine learning models, and those models depend on accurately labelled imagery. This role produces that labelled data. You will be trained to interpret satellite and radar imagery and to annotate it to a defined standard, as part of a new team in Kolkata working directly with the data scientists and analysts who build the models your work feeds.
This is a genuinely entry-level role. No prior experience in remote sensing is needed. We will teach you the imagery, the sensors, and the tooling. What we need you to bring is precision, patience with detail, and the ability to apply a written standard consistently across thousands of images.
Annotate satellite and radar imagery against defined labelling guidelines, identifying and classifying features, objects, and activity, and tracking change across image sequences over time.- Work to defined quality and throughput standards. Your labels will be measured for accuracy against reference sets and for consistency against the rest of the team, and your Team Lead will give you regular feedback against both.
- Escalate imagery the guidelines do not cover. Ambiguous cases are common and raising one is part of the job rather than a failure to complete it.
- Contribute to improving the guidelines. Annotators see edge cases before anyone else does, and we want them raised.
- As you become established, review the work of newer colleagues and support their onboarding.
- During lower-volume periods, support related work including reference set construction, historical backlog review, and model evaluation.
Graduate in any discipline, or equivalent. Science, geography, mathematics, or engineering backgrounds are useful but not required.- Comfort with geometry and spatial reasoning: shape, distance, angle, scale, and coordinates.
- Demonstrable attention to detail and strong visual discrimination.
- Written English strong enough to work from detailed technical guidelines and to document edge cases clearly.
- Confident with software beyond general computer literacy, and able to pick up specialist annotation tools quickly.
- Able to sustain accuracy across high volumes of repetitive work.
- Able to work independently against a queue and collaboratively within a team.
Desireable Skills:
- Exposure to GIS, remote sensing, photo interpretation, or image annotation tooling.
- Familiarity with digital imagery fundamentals: resolution, bit depth, and spectral bands.
- Awareness of how optical, radar, and other sensors differ in what they capture and how features consequently appear.
- Interest in energy and commodities markets; prior exposure to energy infrastructure data or earth observation is a plus.
