Data Technical Lead SAP S4HANA Data Migration

Role Purpose
The Data Technical Lead is responsible for the technical delivery of all data migration components within an SAP S4HANA programme This role ensures the successful design build testing and execution of SAP migration tools ETL processes interfaces validations and load automation
The Technical Lead works closely with the Data Lead SAP Functional Leads System Integrator SI Data Architects and Business SMEs to ensure that the data migration solution is technically sound scalable and aligned to SAP best practices
Key Responsibilities
1 Technical Design Architecture
- Own the technical architecture for data migration across S4HANA systems and source landscapes
- Define technical integration patterns using SAP BODS SAP Migration Cockpit LTMCLTMOM IDocs BAPIs OData APIs and Direct Transfer
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture security policies and data governance standards
- Develop reusable mapping logic transformation frameworks and automation scripts
2 ETL Build Development Management
Lead the technical development of ETL jobs and load pipelines using
oSAP BODS Data Services
oLTMC LTMOM
oSAP S4 Direct Transfer
oSQL scripts
oPython PowerShell automation
Ensure that migration jobs are fully version controlled parameterised and performant
Oversee development of data validation reconciliation and audit reports
3 Technical Leadership Collaboration
Work hand in hand with the Data Migration Lead to ensure strategy is technically feasible
Collaborate with SAP functional leads to define transformation rules and load sequencing
Provide technical leadership to offshoreonshore ETL developers and SI teams
Troubleshoot data load failures mapping issues and interface gaps
4 Data Objects Load Execution
Oversee the technical preparation and loading of
oMaster Data Business Partner Material Asset VendorCustomer GL BOM Routing etc
oTransactional Data Open Items Inventory WIP Purchase Orders Sales Orders etc
Build and run automated validation scripts to compare load results vs source datasets
Optimise performance of migration runs handling largevolume datasets
5 Testing Mock Loads Cutover
Design and execute technical plans for
oUnit testing of ETL transformations
oSystem Integration Testing SIT
oUser Acceptance Testing UAT for data
oMock conversion cycles
oVolume and stress testing
Lead technical execution during cutover ensuring data loads run according to plan with minimal downtime
6 Risk Quality Compliance
Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Ensure all data migration components comply with
oSAP security authorisation standards
oData privacy requirements GDPR data masking
oInternal IT controls and audit frameworks
Maintain clear documentation for ETL processes and load execution

Required Skills Experience
Technical Competencies
7-12 years as a Technical Data Migration LeadDeveloper ideally on multiple S4HANA programmes
Deep hands on experience with
oSAP BODS Data Services
oLTMC LTMOM Migration Cockpit
oSAP IDocBAPI interfaces
oSQL advanced
oPython PowerShell or similar scripting tools
Strong understanding of SAP data structures and integration layers
Functional Project Experience
Familiarity with SAP modules
oFICO MM SD PP PM QM Ariba SuccessFactors depending on scope
Experience working in Agile SAP Activate or hybrid delivery environments
Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage SIvendor development streams
Soft Skills
Strong technical problemsolving and rootcause analysis capability
Clear communication to both technical and non technical stakeholders
Ability to work in fastpaced environments with strict deadlines
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science Data Engineering Information Systems or similar
SAP certifications BODS S4HANA ABAP MDG preferred but not required
