MOC Shipyard Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our shipbuilding team. The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for the installation, assembly, maintenance, alignment, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems onboard vessels and within the shipyard. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience working with marine machinery, pumps, piping systems, engines, and other mechanical components while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and align mechanical equipment and machinery onboard vessels and within the shipyard.
- Fit, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors, engines, shafts, bearings, and other marine mechanical systems.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical layouts, and technical specifications.
- Carry out installation and alignment of rotating equipment using appropriate tools and measuring instruments.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment.
- Inspect mechanical components for wear, damage, and defects, and carry out necessary repairs or replacements.
- Assist in hydrostatic testing, commissioning, and sea trials of mechanical systems.
- Work closely with fabrication, piping, electrical, and engineering teams during vessel construction and repair projects.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with approved procedures, quality standards, and shipbuilding regulations.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report work progress and any technical issues to the Supervisor or Section Head.
Qualifications
- ITI/Fitter, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent trade qualification.
- Minimum 3–6 years of experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably in the shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, heavy engineering, or industrial sector.
