Role Description
This is a part-time, fully remote Frontend Intern (React Native) role with flexible timings, suited to students or early-career developers balancing study or other commitments. The intern will work closely with the engineering and product teams to build and maintain mobile application interfaces for Begin's social and dating product, focusing on usability, performance, and consistency with design guidelines. Day-to-day tasks include implementing UI components with React Native and Expo, integrating REST APIs and handling loading, empty, and error states, fixing bugs, writing clean and maintainable TypeScript, and participating in code reviews. The role also involves collaborating with designers to translate Figma wireframes and mockups into functional screens across discovery, matches, messaging, events, feed, profile, and onboarding flows, breaking large screens into reusable components, testing features on physical Android and iOS devices, and documenting work for future reference. Because the role is remote and flexibly scheduled, it relies on clear written communication, comfortable use of asynchronous tools for updates and code review, and the self-direction to make steady progress and raise blockers early. The intern will learn best practices in frontend development, file-based routing, version control, and agile collaboration while contributing to real product features that ship to users.
Stipend and Logistics
- Stipend: ₹10,000 – ₹15,000 per month, based on experience and demonstrated skill at interview

Qualifications
- Candidates should possess foundational skills in Typescript and React or React Native, including component-based architecture, hooks, and state management.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with TypeScript, or a strong willingness to learn it quickly, as the codebase is written in strict-mode TypeScript.
- Candidates should possess skills in building responsive user interfaces, working with mobile layouts and flexbox, and implementing basic UI/UX principles.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON data handling, and integrating frontend code with backend services, including handling loading and error states.
- Candidates should possess the ability to translate design files such as Figma mockups into accurate, working screens with attention to spacing, typography, and visual consistency.
- Candidates should possess experience with Git or other version control systems, and comfort working in collaborative development workflows involving branches and pull requests.
- Candidates should possess strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to debug and optimize frontend code on real devices rather than only in a simulator.
- Candidates should possess effective written communication skills, the ability to collaborate asynchronously across a distributed team, and a willingness to learn from feedback and mentorship.
- Candidates should possess the self-direction to work independently in a remote setting, provide regular progress updates, and ask for help early when blocked.
- Candidates should possess a reliable internet connection, a personal development machine capable of running React Native tooling, and access to at least one physical Android or iOS device for testing.
- Candidates should possess an interest in mobile-specific concerns such as gestures, lists, image handling, and performance on mid-range Android devices.
- Relevant coursework or projects in mobile app development, computer science, or software engineering are beneficial.
- Prior exposure to Expo, Firebase Authentication, or publishing a mobile app in any capacity is advantageous but not required.
- Enrollment in or completion of a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not strictly required.
