Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically strong Senior Design Engineer – Thermal Energy Storage (TES) to lead the engineering and design of advanced TES systems. The role requires deep expertise in thermodynamics, chilled water systems, hydraulic engineering, and HVAC applications, along with the capability to independently manage end-to-end system design and technical coordination.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in designing chilled water storage, ice storage, PCM-based TES systems, or district cooling solutions and should be comfortable interacting with consultants, clients, and execution teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering design of Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems including:
- Chilled Water Storage
- Ice Thermal Storage
- Phase Change Material (PCM) Systems
- Perform thermal load calculations, energy analysis, system sizing, and hydraulic calculations.
- Prepare:
- P&ID drawings
- GA drawings
- Technical specifications
- Equipment sizing
- BOQs and engineering documentation
- Conduct HVAC system analysis and optimize energy performance.
- Support techno-commercial proposal preparation in coordination with business development and sales teams.
- Review and evaluate vendor technical submissions, quotations, and compliance documents.
- Provide technical support during project execution, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting stages.
- Participate in technical discussions with consultants, clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Drive innovation, optimization, and standardization within the TES engineering function.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, energy efficiency norms, and project specifications.
Desired Candidate Profile
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- (Thermal Engineering specialization preferred)
- 10–16 years of relevant experience in:
- Thermal Energy Storage (TES)
- HVAC Design
- District Cooling
- Energy Engineering
- Chilled Water Systems
- Strong technical understanding of:
- Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer
- Chilled Water Networks
- HVAC Load Calculations
- Pumping & Hydraulic Design
- Energy Optimization Techniques
- Experience with commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or district cooling projects preferred.
- Strong analytical and engineering problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple design deliverables and timelines.Software Skills
Hands-on proficiency in:
- HAP
- eQuest
- AutoCAD
- MS Excel (Advanced)
- Energy Modeling Tools
Exposure to BIM/Revit or simulation software will be an added advantage.
