Position Overview
The Mining Engineer is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the quarry, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while maintaining compliance with statutory regulations and company standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Plan, organize, and supervise daily quarry operations.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within budget and schedule.
- Monitor extraction, crushing, screening, and material dispatch activities.
- Optimize productivity by improving operational efficiency.
Project Planning & Execution
- Develop quarry production plans and schedules.
- Coordinate project timelines and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Allocate manpower, machinery, and resources effectively.
- Monitor project progress and prepare regular status reports.
Team Leadership
- Lead and supervise engineers, supervisors, operators, drivers, and site workers.
- Assign responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Conduct regular team meetings and provide operational guidance.
- Train employees on safety procedures and operational best practices.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Maintain compliance with mining laws, government regulations, and company policies.
- Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures.
Equipment & Asset Management
- Monitor the performance and maintenance of quarry machinery and heavy equipment.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules.
- Minimize equipment downtime through effective maintenance planning.
- Ensure proper utilization of machinery and fuel management.
Quality Control
- Ensure the quality of extracted materials meets project specifications.
- Monitor grading, crushing, and screening processes.
- Implement quality assurance procedures.
Cost & Budget Management
- Prepare operational budgets and control project expenses.
- Monitor fuel consumption, equipment costs, and labor expenses.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and transport agencies.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure contractual compliance.
- Manage procurement of materials and equipment required for operations.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain production records, equipment logs, safety reports, and inventory records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
- Submit project progress reports to senior management.
Environmental Management
- Ensure environmentally responsible quarry operations.
- Implement dust control, waste management, and pollution prevention measures.
- Monitor environmental compliance and maintain required records.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with government authorities for inspections and statutory approvals.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal departments.
- Address operational issues and provide timely resolutions.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in quarry or mining operations, including experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Knowledge of quarry production planning and heavy machinery operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and reporting tools.
