· Parmanandwadi MPS School, Parel Village, Parel – 3 days/week

Under its School Transformation Initiative, ELF has adopted BMC schools to improve enrolment, attendance, learning outcomes, parental engagement, and the overall school environment through strong community participation.
Position Summary
The Social Worker will serve as a vital link between the school, families, community, and local stakeholders. The role focuses on increasing student enrolment and attendance, strengthening parent participation, resolving child and family-related concerns, conducting awareness programmes, and creating a positive ecosystem that enables every child to learn and thrive.
The Social Worker will spend three days each week at MHADA MPS School, Mahul Village, and three days each week at Parmanandwadi MPS School, Parel Village, ensuring consistent engagement with both school communities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Community Mobilization & Student Enrolment
· Conduct regular door-to-door community visits.
· Mobilize out-of-school and irregular children for school enrolment.
· Promote regular school attendance among students.
· Build strong relationships with families and community leaders.
· Organize awareness drives highlighting the importance of education.
2. Parent Engagement
· Conduct regular parent meetings.
· Organize Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings.
· Encourage active participation of parents in school activities.
· Resolve parents' concerns through counselling and continuous engagement.
· Motivate parents to take responsibility for:
o Children's regular attendance
o Homework completion
o Discipline and behaviour
o Overall academic and personal development
3. Positive Parenting & Family Counselling
· Conduct Positive Parenting workshops and sessions.
· Guide parents on creating a supportive learning environment at home.
· Help parents understand child development and emotional well-being.
· Identify vulnerable families requiring additional support and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
4. Child Counselling & Student Support
· Build trust with children through regular interaction.
· Counsel students facing behavioural, emotional, social, or educational challenges.
· Address issues related to absenteeism, peer relationships, low motivation, and classroom behaviour.
· Support children in developing confidence, self-esteem, and life skills.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
· Develop strong rapport with:
o School Headmaster/Principal
o Teachers
o School Management Committee (SMC)
o PTA Members
o BMC officials
o Community leaders
o Local NGOs and volunteers
· Coordinate with stakeholders for school improvement initiatives.
6. School Development Initiatives
Take proactive initiatives to improve the school ecosystem, including:
· Organising cleanliness and beautification drives.
· Coordinating with the concerned BMC Ward Office for civic improvements around the school.
· Mobilizing PTA members and community volunteers for school development activities.
· Supporting plantation drives, wall painting, sanitation improvements, and other community-led initiatives.
· Encouraging community ownership of school infrastructure.
7. Awareness Programmes
Conduct awareness sessions on:
· Importance of education
· School attendance
· Child rights
· Health and hygiene
· Nutrition
· Safety and protection
· Gender sensitivity
· Environmental awareness
· Government welfare schemes
8. Documentation & Reporting
· Maintain daily field visit reports.
· Prepare monthly progress reports.
· Document case studies and success stories.
· Maintain records of counselling sessions.
· Track student attendance and follow-up actions.
· Maintain photographs and documentation of activities.
· Submit timely reports to the reporting manager.
9. Coordination
· Work closely with teachers to identify children requiring intervention.
· Participate in school events and celebrations.
· Support implementation of academic and co-curricular activities.
· Coordinate with other ELF programmes wherever required.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Increase in student enrolment.
· Improvement in student attendance.
· Number of successful home visits conducted.
· Number of awareness programmes organized.
· Number of parent counselling sessions conducted.
· Parent participation in PTA meetings.
· Reduction in student absenteeism.
· Resolution of child and parent-related issues.
· Number of school development initiatives completed.
· Timely submission of reports and documentation.
· Positive feedback from school authorities and community stakeholders.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW), Master's in Social Work (MSW), Sociology, Psychology, Rural Development, or a related field.
· Freshers with strong community engagement skills may also apply.
Experience
· 2–5 years of experience in community development, education, child welfare, school social work, or NGO programmes preferred.
· Experience working with urban slum communities and government schools will be an added advantage.
