NURSE - JOB DESCRIPTION
The Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care, medical supervision, health education, and emergency support to the residents of Navajeevan and other YWCA projects. The role involves close coordination with psychiatrists, general physicians, caregivers, social workers, and management to ensure the physical and mental well-being of residents.
1. Health Monitoring of Residents:
Closely monitor the overall health status of residents by regularly checking vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, blood sugar levels, BMI, and general physical condition.
2. Vital Records Maintenance:
Maintain and update vital chart registers regularly and accurately for all residents, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
3. Psychiatric Medication Administration:
Be in charge of administering psychiatric medications to residents strictly as prescribed by the Psychiatrist, ensuring correct dosage, timing, and compliance.
4. First Aid and General Medication:
Administer first aid and general medications as prescribed by the General Physician and attend promptly to minor injuries or illnesses.
5. Exercise Sessions:
Conduct and teach physical exercises for residents in the evening, promoting physical fitness, routine, and overall well-being.
6. Recreational Activities:
Organize and conduct recreational activities to support residents’ mental health, relaxation, social interaction, and emotional balance.
7. Medication Stock Management:
Maintain the medication stock register, monitor stock levels, ensure proper storage, and place timely requisitions to avoid shortages.
8. Emergency Care Across YWCA Projects:
Attend to residents in all YWCA projects in case of medical emergencies and accompany them to the hospital for treatment or admission whenever required.
9. Medical Registers Maintenance:
Maintain and update the Treatment Register, Admission Register, Death Register, and Escape Register accurately and in a timely manner.
10. Procurement of Medicines:
Visit hospitals for the monthly purchase of medicines for Navajeevan residents and procure general medicines from other pharmacies as required.
11. Daily Reporting and Planning:
Report daily to the Secretary regarding medical work done, residents’ health status, and plan medical activities for the day.
12. General Cleanliness Supervision:
Be in charge of supervising and ensuring general cleanliness and hygiene of Navajeevan residents, including personal hygiene practices.
13. Case File Documentation:
Maintain residents’ medical case files by writing periodic reports on their health condition and treatment progress.
14. Health Education:
Interact periodically with residents and educate them on personal health, hygiene, nutrition, medication compliance, and healthy lifestyle practices.
15. Medication Changes and Follow-up:
If medications are revised by the Consultant Doctor or visiting Doctor at IMH, immediately inform the Secretary and implement the changes without delay.
16. Supervision of Occupational Activities:
Supervise and monitor wire bag making and stitching activities, ensuring residents’ safety and appropriate engagement.
17. Hospital Visits for Illness:
Take residents to the hospital in case of illness. In more severe conditions, inform and coordinate with caregivers immediately.
18. Caregiver Coordination:
Inform caregivers about residents’ health conditions and coordinate with the General Physician regarding treatment and follow-up care.
19. Weekly Medicine Management:
Fill and refill medicines for residents once a week, ensuring proper labelling, dosage instructions, and adherence.
20. Workshop Assistance:
Assist and monitor residents in making wire bags and other handicrafts at the workshop, supporting therapeutic and vocational engagement.
21. Cultural and Special Programmes:
Train and guide residents in singing, dancing, skits, and other activities for special programmes, celebrations, and events.
22. Inter-Project Visits:
Visit other YWCA projects as part of nursing responsibilities:
· Senior Citizen Home - twice a week
· Sahodari Project - twice a month
· PP Home - twice a month
The Nurse is expected to work with compassion, alertness, professionalism, and accountability, ensuring quality medical care, timely intervention, accurate documentation, and holistic support for the residents and the wider YWCA community.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
