Description: Factory Safety Officer (Mechanical Industry)
The Factory Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving all safety practices in a mechanical manufacturing environment. The role ensures compliance with applicable laws, company standards, and safe operating procedures to prevent injuries, equipment damage, and workplace incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety inspections of machines, tools, material handling equipment, shop floors, and utility areas.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements for machine guarding, lockout/tagout, fire protection, electrical safety, lifting operations, and hazardous work permits.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and prepare reports with root-cause analysis.
- Conduct safety induction, toolbox talks, and periodic training for workers, supervisors, and contractors.
- Monitor use of personal protective equipment and enforce safety discipline across the plant.
- Maintain emergency preparedness plans, evacuation drills, and first-aid arrangements.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure safe work practices during machine installation, breakdown maintenance, and shutdown activities.
- Keep records of inspections, training, incidents, permits, and compliance documentation.
- Support audits, statutory inspections, and management reviews related to occupational safety.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of industrial safety practices in mechanical and manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of machine safety, hand tools, welding safety, grinding safety, compressed air safety, and material handling safety.
- Ability to identify hazards, analyze risks, and implement practical controls.
- Good communication and training skills.
- Familiarity with incident investigation and corrective action tracking.
- Basic knowledge of statutory compliance requirements applicable to factories.
Qualifications
- Advance Diploma in industrial safety is compulsory, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- Relevant safety certification preferred.
- Experience in a mechanical, fabrication, machine shop, automotive, or engineering industry.
- Knowledge of factory operations, maintenance safety, and shop-floor discipline.
Preferred Experience
- 2 to 3 years of experience in factory or plant safety.
- Experience in machine guarding, LOTO, hot work permit systems, and contractor safety management.
- Exposure to emergency response planning and safety audits.

- Plant Manager / Production Manager / EHS Manager
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
