Key Responsibilities
Safety Management
- Implement and monitor workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of machine shop equipment, tools, and work areas.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and company standards.
- Organize safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for employees.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure availability.
- Maintain safety records, permits, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate emergency response drills, fire safety programs, and first-aid preparedness.
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA).
Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage employee attendance, leave records, and manpower reports.
- Maintain departmental documentation, filing systems, and records.
- Coordinate procurement requests for safety equipment, office supplies, and consumables.
- Prepare monthly reports on safety performance, incidents, and departmental activities.
- Support onboarding and orientation of new employees regarding safety and workplace procedures.
- Coordinate contractor and visitor entry requirements, safety inductions, and documentation.
- Assist management in budgeting and administrative planning.
- Schedule meetings, training sessions, and departmental communications.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to statutory requirements related to occupational health and safety.
- Maintain records for audits and inspections.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and auditors when required.
- Track corrective and preventive actions resulting from audits and inspections.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Safety certification (NEBOSH, IOSH, Diploma in Industrial Safety, or equivalent) preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, machine shop, fabrication, or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of machine shop hazards, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and permit systems.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
- Risk assessment and incident investigation skills.
- Strong documentation and report-writing abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Good communication and training skills.
- Organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work with production, maintenance, and management teams.
