Ecommerce Category Manager

Job Overview
We are looking for an E-commerce Category Manager to take end-to-end ownership of assigned product categories. The role involves product sourcing, vendor management, product listings, pricing, SEO optimization, competitor analysis, and driving category sales growth.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of e-commerce marketplaces/websites, good commercial sense, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze category performance and identify opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Identify and source new products relevant to assigned categories.
- Find, evaluate, negotiate, and coordinate with vendors and suppliers.
- Compare vendor pricing, product quality, availability, and commercial terms.
- Coordinate with the Purchase & Inventory teams for procurement and stock availability.
- Continuously identify new products, designs, variants, and market opportunities.
2. Category & Competitor Analysis
- Regularly analyze competitor websites, marketplaces, product ranges, pricing, content, and positioning.
- Identify product assortment gaps and opportunities within assigned categories.
- Monitor market trends, customer preferences, and new product opportunities.
- Benchmark our product offerings against key competitors.
3. Product Listing & Catalog Management
- Upload new products and update existing product listings on the e-commerce website.
- Ensure accurate product titles, descriptions, specifications, pricing, attributes, and categorization.
- Regularly audit existing listings and improve incomplete or underperforming products.
- Ensure product information is accurate, consistent, and presented professionally.
4. Product Content & SEO
- Optimize product listings for organic search and customer conversion.
- Create, curate, review, and improve:
- Product Titles
- Product Descriptions
- Meta Titles
- Meta Descriptions
- Keywords and Product Attributes
- Ensure content is grammatically correct, informative, SEO-friendly, and aligned with brand guidelines.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to improve category and product-page SEO.
5. Product Images & Presentation
- Review product images for quality, accuracy, background, consistency, and overall presentation.
- Identify products requiring better photography, editing, or additional images.
- Coordinate with photographers, graphic designers, and catalog teams to improve product presentation.
- Ensure listings provide customers with sufficient visual and product information to make purchase decisions.
6. Product Pricing
- Monitor competitor pricing and market positioning.
- Recommend appropriate selling prices based on procurement cost, margins, competition, and market demand.
- Regularly review existing product pricing and identify opportunities for price revisions.
- Coordinate pricing changes, discounts, and promotional opportunities where required.
7. Category Sales & Growth
- Take ownership of the sales performance of assigned categories.
- Prepare and review weekly/monthly category sales reports.
- Track sales growth, revenue, product performance, and other relevant category KPIs.
- Identify best-selling, slow-moving, and underperforming products.
- Develop and execute actions to improve sales of underperforming products.
- Demonstrate measurable growth across assigned categories.
Key Skills Required
- Microsoft Excel – VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Filters, Sorting, and basic data analysis

Preferred Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in E-commerce Category Management, Catalog Management, Product Sourcing, Marketplace Management, or a similar role.
- Experience working with an e-commerce brand, marketplace, retail company, or D2C business is preferred.
- Experience managing categories with a large number of SKUs will be an advantage.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
