ob Summary
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to oversee and manage shipbuilding production activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and as per required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and monitor day-to-day shipbuilding production activities.
- Supervise production teams, supervisors, foremen, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Ensure production targets and project schedules are achieved.
- Coordinate with Design, Planning, QA/QC, Procurement, Stores, and Project teams.
- Monitor hull fabrication, block assembly, erection, outfitting, piping, structural, and other shipbuilding activities.
- Review production drawings, work instructions, method statements, and project requirements.
- Allocate manpower, equipment, materials, and resources effectively.
- Monitor productivity and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams to resolve quality issues and minimize rework.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure timely completion of assigned works.
- Identify production delays, bottlenecks, and technical issues and take corrective action.
- Maintain production reports, progress records, manpower reports, and other required documentation.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE and shipyard safety procedures.
- Conduct regular production meetings and review project progress.
- Support project management in achieving delivery and cost targets.
- Lead and motivate production teams to improve efficiency and productivity.
Required Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine fabrication, or heavy engineering.
- Strong experience in managing shipyard production activities and manpower.
- Good knowledge of shipbuilding processes, fabrication, erection, outfitting, and production planning.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and shipbuilding drawings.
- Strong leadership, coordination, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in managing multiple shipbuilding projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of production planning and project scheduling.
- Good understanding of QA/QC and HSE requirements.
- Strong knowledge of manpower and resource planning.
- Excellent communication and team-management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict project deadlines.
