Job Description:
We are looking to hire production/ factory manager who will lead overall factory operations and end-to-end production for export-grade leather bags and wallets. Your goal is to meet strict international quality standards, optimize factory output, and ensure on-time shipments to major global brands and importers.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning and Execution
- Plan and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on export order deadlines.
- Oversee end-to-end manufacturing—from leather cutting, skiving, and gluing to stitching, edge-painting, assembly, and final packing.
- Monitor line efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and maximize machine and worker productivity.
- Coordinate closely with the merchandising team to track critical paths from raw material receipt to final dispatch
2. Factory Operations and Administration
- Manage day-to-day factory operations, including maintenance, shop floor discipline, and workflow safety.
- Supervise floor supervisors, master craftsmen, machine operators, and finishing staff.
- Manage labor allocation, monitor daily attendance, and implement performance incentives to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
- Manpower planning and hiring for smooth and efficients operations
- Control factory overhead costs, reduce raw material wastage, and improve overall resource utilization
3. Quality Control and Compliance
- Enforce strict quality control (QC) protocols (AQL standards) required by premium UK, European, and US brands.
- Inspect incoming raw materials (leather hides, hardware, linings, zippers, and threads) for defects.
- Conduct inline and final random audits before shipment sign-off.
- Ensure compliance with international social, ethical, and environmental factory audits (e.g., SEDEX, BSCI, LWG) and local labor laws
4. Sample Development and Tech Pack Execution
- Coordinate with designers and sample rooms to convert buyer sketches or tech packs into pre-production samples.
- Review patterns, leather consumption, and costing accuracy for new collections.
- Ensure approved golden samples are strictly replicated during mass production
Candidate Requirements:
1. Education and Experience
- Experience: 8 to 15 years of hands-on experience in leather goods manufacturing (specifically luxury/premium bags and wallets), with at least 5 years in a managerial role within an export house.
- Education: Degree/Diploma in Leather Goods Technology, Footwear Design & Development (FDDI), or Production Management.
2. Core Competencies
- Deep technical knowledge of leather types (cow, buffalo, sheep), tanning grades, cutting techniques, and hardware finishes.
- Strong understanding of export documentation, buyer specifications, and overseas quality expectations (EU/US markets).
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to manage a large workforce.
- IT Skills- Knowledge of MS office, ICS and Production software; Familiar with Google search to find suppliers/ source materials on India mart and Online etc
