Position Description:
We are looking for a highly experienced Mainframe SME with strong expertise in Ratabase-based applications, integration, and modernization initiatives. The role involves end-to-end ownership of multiple business-critical applications across Mainframe (z/OS) and AS400 platforms within a complex, high-scale environment.

Your future duties and responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Own and manage 22+ Mainframe applications end-to-end, including interdependencies, shared components, and coordinated release cycles
- Handle complete lifecycle: Design, development, database setup, build, testing, documentation, deployment, and production support
- Develop and maintain Ratabase-based applications including utilities and multiple application variants across architectures:
o IMS Batch / IMS Online
o CICS
o COBOL (Batch/ Online)
o DB2
o XML-based integrations
o C, C++
o VSAM
- Design and implement integration solutions between Mainframe and external systems using service-based approaches (REST/JSON)
- Work on modernization initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes
- Support cross-platform integration involving AS400 and distributed systems
Responsibilities in Production & Delivery
- Handle production support, defect analysis, and root cause investigation
- Participate in testing cycles (unit, integration, regression)
- Manage release activities including database upgrades and post-release validation
- Work closely with onsite teams and clients for requirement discussions and delivery alignment
Governance & Upgrades
- Participate in Change Advisory Board activities
- Validate platform upgrades (IMS, CICS, COBOL, DB2) and ensure compatibility
Important Note
- This role requires strong ownership, multi-platform expertise, and the ability to manage a large, interdependent application landscape. Candidates should be comfortable handling both legacy systems and modern integration approaches.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Must-Have Skills:
- Strong expertise in CICS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS, C&C++, REXX, CL, RPG
- Experience in handling batch and online transaction processing systems, should be able to handle multiple CICS applications.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and service-based integration patterns
- Exposure to Mainframe integration tools (e.g., Web Enablement Toolkit or AppConnect etc)
- Experience with performance tuning, debugging, and production issue resolution
- Knowledge of database design (tables, indexes, views, etc.)

Good-to-Have Skills
- Hands-on with release management, migration scripts, and deployment activities
- Experience working in multi-application, high-dependency environments
- Experience with DevOps tools (Jenkins) and build automation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred
- Experience in Insurance domain / Rating systems
- Exposure to Ratabase product
- Experience in Mainframe modernization initiatives
