Reporting To: Site Engineer / Construction Manager (Third-Party Agency) & L&T Execution Engineers
Location: Site Alignment / Casting Yards / Viaduct Sections / Station Buildings
Job PurposeTo lead, manage, and supervise third-party direct labor crews executing major civil construction tasks (viaducts, piers, pile foundations, casting yard operations, and track bed execution) under Larsen & Toubro (L&T) project guidelines. Responsible for maintaining daily labor deployment, productivity, strict site safety, and generating daily progress/manpower reports.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Civil Labor Management & On-Site Supervision
- Daily Work Allocation: Assign specific civil tasks (reinforcement binding, shuttering/formwork, concrete pouring, pile driving, curing) to sub-contracted labor groups (masons, bar benders, carpenters, helpers).
- Labor Productivity & Output: Ensure assigned labor teams meet daily targeted output metrics (e.g., cubic meters of concrete poured, tons of steel tied, shuttering area completed) without compromising quality.
- Attendance & Shift Management: Track and verify daily labor attendance, check-in/check-out timing, shift rotations, and overtime hours at designated work faces or casting yards.
- Labor Welfare & Discipline: Ensure workers adhere to site protocols, resolve on-site labor disputes, ensure availability of safe drinking water and rest shelters, and enforce proper camp discipline.
2. Labor Documentation & Daily Reporting
- Daily Progress Reports (DPR): Prepare and submit daily labor-centric reports detailing total manpower deployed vs. planned, target achieved, machinery usage, and work location.
- Muster Roll & Measurement Records: Maintain accurate daily muster logs (attendance sheets) and joint-measurement logs of output produced by labor gangs for monthly billing clearance.
- Third-Party to L&T Reporting: Provide structured daily, weekly, and monthly labor availability, skill-set breakdown, and productivity reports to L&T Package Managers and third-party management.
- Incident & Delay Logging: Record and report any site stoppage, weather delays, material shortages, or labor downtime immediately to the L&T Site Engineer.
3. Safety (HSE) & Quality Enforcement
- PPE Compliance: Enforce strict usage of mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (helmets, high-visibility vests, safety harnesses, steel-toe boots) among all managed labor.
- Toolbox Talks (TBT): Conduct mandatory daily morning Toolbox Talks with labor gangs covering daily hazard awareness, safe working practices at heights, and heavy lifting protocols.
- L&T SOP Adherence: Ensure workers strictly follow L&T’s High-Speed Rail technical specifications, standard operating procedures, and safety permits (Permit to Work).
4. Site Execution & L&T Coordination
- Material & Equipment Coordination: Coordinate with L&T store teams and crane/machinery operators to ensure raw materials (steel, concrete, formwork) are readily available for the labor force to prevent idle hours.
- Quality Inspection Setup: Ensure labor prepares concrete pours, steel reinforcement, and formwork aligned strictly with Japanese Shinkansen high-speed rail tolerances before L&T inspection engineers sign off.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Educational Qualification: ITI in Civil / Diploma in Civil Engineering (preferred).
- Labor Handling Skills: Proven ability to manage large teams (15 to 30+ direct laborers/labor contractors) in fast-paced shift environments.
- Reporting Skills: Basic computer literacy ( WhatsApp reporting, mobile app logs) for preparing Daily Progress Reports (DPR) and labor attendance sheets.
- Language Proficiency: Hindi (mandatory for direct communication with labor) + basic functional English/Hindi for L&T documentation.
