TEACH was established in 2016 as a non-profit organization. Our vision is to build an equitable ecosystem for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Our mission is to facilitate higher education for them that helps them lead their lives independently and successfully, and assisting them in their personal, professional, and social development.
We currently operate across three campuses in Mumbai, Delhi and Pune, and our vibrant community comprises 400+ students. With extensive industry connections across 30+ employers and sustainability partner organizations, we follow a holistic outcome model. Our student programs cover the following three pillars: Higher education, Skills development, and Aptitude development.

Role Summary
● The Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEW) Program supports the mental health and psychosocial development of TEACH’s students, with special focus on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) community. Through individual counselling, group therapy, life skills training, and inclusive education initiatives, this role directly supports TEACH’s mission of enabling students to lead independent, successful lives through holistic personal, professional, and social development.
● Reports into the Program Lead / Head of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Program, and works as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside educators, admin staff, and other program specialists
● Mumbai Centre (on-site role)
● No regular travel required; occasional local travel may be needed for external wellbeing campaigns, events, or workshops
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual counselling sessions and therapy for students with varied emotional and behavioral needs
- Plan and facilitate monthly group therapy sessions, delivering psychoeducational sessions on emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and stress management
- Build strong interpersonal rapport with students, ensuring emotional safety and openness
- Administer and interpret psychological and psychometric assessments, including cognitive, behavioral, and emotional scales
- Prepare documentation and reports for student progress, interventions, and referrals
- Support the Guided Learners program by providing relevant inputs based on student evaluations
- Conduct workshops and awareness sessions for students, staff, and parents
- Participate in internal training and capacity-building sessions
- Support the planning and execution of wellbeing campaigns, external events, and research projects
- Work closely with educators to ensure accessibility and inclusive communication, and be an active part of the multidisciplinary team supporting DHH students
- Liaise with academic staff, admin teams, and families to ensure coordinated support for students
- Take up additional roles as assigned, including special projects, research, documentation, and program reviews, and provide suggestions for the program's ongoing development
Education and Experience:
● Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology
● Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience providing therapy and emotional support to adolescents/young adults, along with administering and interpreting psychometric assessments and standardized psychological tools
● Willingness to learn Indian Sign Language (ISL); prior exposure to ISL or experience working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community is a plus (training will be provided)
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
● Good verbal communication skills in English (with correct grammar) and good written communication skills in English (with correct punctuation and grammar). Proficient in verbal communication in Hindi and / or Marathi.
● Warm and friendly demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to build meaningful trustworthy relationships
● Self-driven with high levels of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
● Good time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet agreed timelines
● Ability to influence through dialogue, and persuade others to right course of action
● Attention to detail and perseverance
● High emotional maturity with the ability to resolve conflicts through mediation and objective analyses
● Comfortable using Google Work Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Google Drive) or willingness to learn
● Ability to comply with agreed organizational standards, policies and processes
● Tolerance for ambiguity and comfort with change management (as this role will play a vital role in implementing new processes, as needed)
Pay: ₹350,000.00 - ₹610,316.37 per year
