Key responsibilities include:
- Pattern Drafting: Developing detailed, accurate patterns (manual or CAD) based on designer sketches and technical specs.
- Sample Development: Creating and testing prototypes (protos) to ensure the design can be produced efficiently, supervising tailors on construction.
- Fitting and Correction: Conducting fitting sessions on mannequins or live models and making necessary adjustments for fit, balance, and style.
- Grading: Using computer software (e.g., Gerber, Lectra) or manual methods to grade patterns into different sizes accurately.
- Marker Making & Costing: Planning the layout of pattern pieces to optimize fabric usage, reducing wastage, and providing data for garment costing.
- Technical Communication: Collaborating with designers, merchandisers, and production teams to solve technical, construction, or fabric-related issues.
