Job Summary- KARIGAR
The Jewellery Melting Karigar is responsible for melting, refining, and preparing gold, silver, and other precious metals for jewellery manufacturing while maintaining purity standards, safety procedures, and accurate metal handling records.
Key ResponsibilitiesMetal Melting & Refining
Melt gold, silver, and other precious metals as per production requirements.
Operate melting furnaces, crucibles, torches, and refining equipment.
Ensure correct alloy mixing and metal composition.
Prepare raw metal for jewellery manufacturing processes.
Purity & Quality Control
Maintain required metal purity standards.
Check metal weight and quality before and after melting.
Minimize metal loss and wastage during the process.
Coordinate with quality control and assay teams when required.
Inventory & Record Maintenance
Maintain accurate records of metal received, melted, and issued.
Handle scrap metal recovery and refining processes.
Report daily metal consumption and wastage.
Equipment Handling
Maintain and clean melting tools and machinery.
Ensure proper handling of high-temperature equipment.
Report equipment faults or maintenance requirements.
Safety & Compliance
Follow workshop safety procedures and fire safety guidelines.
Use protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and safety tools.
Ensure secure handling of precious metals as per company policy.
Coordination
Coordinate with jewellery manufacturing karigars and production staff.
Support casting and mould preparation processes when required.
Required Skills
Knowledge of gold and silver melting techniques
Understanding of metal purity and alloy mixing
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to handle high-temperature equipment safely
Basic calculation and weight measurement skills
Qualification
No formal education mandatory
Technical jewellery manufacturing training preferred
Experience
2–10 years in jewellery manufacturing or metal melting work
