Job Description
The Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care, supervising junior nursing staff, ensuring patient safety, coordinating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, and maintaining compliance with hospital policies, quality standards, and infection control protocols.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care.
* Monitor patients’ vital signs, condition, and progress.
* Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
* Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
* Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
* Ensure accurate nursing documentation.
2. Clinical Leadership
* Supervise and guide staff nurses, nursing assistants, and trainees.
* Allocate patient assignments based on patient acuity.
* Mentor newly recruited nurses.
* Monitor adherence to nursing standards and protocols.
3. Infection Prevention & Patient Safety
* Ensure compliance with infection control policies.
* Promote hand hygiene and use of PPE.
* Report and manage incidents, medication errors, and adverse events.
* Participate in patient safety initiatives.
4. Medication Management
* Verify physician orders before medication administration.
* Maintain safe medication storage and documentation.
* Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions.
* Ensure narcotic and controlled drug accountability.
5. Coordination & Communication
* Coordinate with doctors, physiotherapists, pharmacists, laboratory, and other departments.
* Participate in ward rounds.
* Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
* Ensure effective shift handovers.
6. Documentation
* Maintain accurate nursing records.
* Complete admission, transfer, and discharge documentation.
* Record nursing assessments and interventions.
* Ensure confidentiality of patient information.
7. Quality Improvement
* Participate in quality improvement programs.
* Assist in NABH/JCI compliance activities.
* Monitor nursing indicators and clinical audits.
* Participate in mortality and morbidity meetings when required.
8. Equipment & Inventory
* Ensure proper functioning of medical equipment.
* Report faulty equipment immediately.
* Maintain adequate stock of medicines and consumables.
* Monitor expiry dates of medications and supplies.
9. Education & Training
* Conduct bedside teaching for junior nurses.
* Participate in continuing nursing education (CNE).
* Attend mandatory hospital training sessions.
* Maintain professional competence through regular learning.
Qualifications
* B.Sc. Nursing / GNM (Registered Nurse & Midwife)
* Valid Nursing Council Registration
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
* ACLS certification (preferred for critical care areas)
Experience
* 5–8 years of clinical nursing experience.
* At least 2 years in a supervisory or senior staff nurse role preferred.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹32,176.54 per month
