We are looking for a Fresh Graduate / Junior AI-ML Engineer to support the development of machine learning and automation solutions for optical transceiver test optimization. The engineer will work with senior team members to analyze test data, build basic ML models, automate workflows, and support experiments related to calibration, validation, anomaly detection, and test-time reduction.
The role provides an opportunity to learn applied AI/ML in a hardware test environment and contribute to production-oriented solutions involving optical test equipment, test data pipelines, and intelligent decision-making algorithms.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Support development of AI/ML models for test optimization, calibration improvement, and test-time reduction.

Analyze optical test and manufacturing data to identify trends, correlations, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.

Build and evaluate supervised ML models using Python libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, or LightGBM.

Assist in developing predictive models to estimate long-duration test outcomes from early-stage measurements.

Support anomaly detection using statistical methods, Isolation Forests, autoencoders, or other ML-based approaches.

Assist senior engineers in experiments involving Reinforcement Learning, Bayesian Optimization, or multi-armed bandit techniques.

Develop Python scripts for data preprocessing, feature extraction, visualization, and reporting.

Work with test engineers to understand optical test parameters such as ER, OMA, TDECQ, LUT calibration, bias currents, BER, and equalizer settings.

Support integration of ML workflows with test automation frameworks, Python APIs, LabVIEW, or existing internal tools.

Generate reports and dashboards to summarize model performance, test-time savings, yield impact, and data quality observations.

Participate in debugging, validation, and documentation of AI/ML solutions before deployment.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including optical test, manufacturing, firmware, software, and data science teams.
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Physics, or a related field.

Fresh graduates or candidates with 0–2 years of experience may apply.

Academic projects, internships, or coursework in AI/ML, data science, signal processing, optimization, or test automation are preferred.

Exposure to hardware testing, manufacturing data, optical communication, or embedded/test systems is a plus.

Prior experience with Python-based data analysis or ML model development is preferred.
Skills

Good programming skills in Python.

Basic understanding of machine learning concepts such as regression, classification, clustering, model evaluation, and feature engineering.

Familiarity with ML/data libraries such as NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, XGBoost, or LightGBM.

Basic knowledge of data preprocessing, visualization, and statistical analysis.

Understanding of optimization concepts such as parameter tuning, search algorithms, or Bayesian Optimization is a plus.

Basic exposure to deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is an advantage.

Interest in applying AI/ML to real-world engineering, test, and manufacturing problems.

Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.

Ability to learn optical test concepts, measurement systems, and production test workflows.

Good communication skills and willingness to work in a cross-functional engineering environment.
Preferred Skills

Academic or project exposure to Reinforcement Learning, anomaly detection, Bayesian Optimization, or time-series analysis.

Familiarity with hardware test instruments such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, DCAs, or other lab equipment.

Exposure to LabVIEW, test automation frameworks, or Python-based hardware APIs.

Knowledge of optical communication basics, digital communication, signal processing, or high-speed testing.

Experience with dashboards, automated reports, or test-data pipelines.

Familiarity with Git, Jupyter notebooks, SQL, or basic cloud/data tools.
Working Conditions

The work mode of Finisar India is onsite i.e. 5 days at office
