We are looking for a skilled and responsible Lighting Technician to handle lighting setup, power distribution, generators, and electrical operations for weddings, corporate events, concerts, and live shows. The candidate should be capable of independently planning, installing, operating, troubleshooting, and safely dismantling lighting systems.
Event Lighting
* Install, operate, and dismantle event lighting systems.
* Set up LED PAR lights, moving heads, beam lights, wash lights, profile lights, blinders, pixel bars, strobes, audience lights, and decorative lighting.
* Program and operate DMX lighting controllers.
* Address DMX fixtures and troubleshoot signal issues.
* Design lighting according to stage layout and event requirements.
* Focus and position fixtures correctly.
Power Distribution
* Plan electrical load before every event.
* Calculate total power requirements.
* Divide electrical load evenly across all phases.
* Select appropriate cable sizes and circuit breakers.
* Ensure balanced loading to prevent overheating or phase imbalance.
* Identify and prevent electrical faults.
Generator & DG Set Operation
* Start, operate, and safely shut down diesel generators (DG Sets).
* Monitor generator voltage, frequency, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel levels.
* Connect generator output safely to the distribution system.
* Change over between mains supply and DG supply safely.
* Never overload the generator.
* Maintain proper earthing for generators and distribution boards.
* Perform routine generator inspections and report issues immediately.
Electrical Distribution
* Install and operate distribution boards (DBs).
* Connect MCBs, MCCBs, RCCBs/ELCBs safely.
* Ensure correct phase, neutral, and earth connections.
* Identify short circuits, earth leakage, overloads, and voltage drops.
* Maintain safe cable routing to avoid trip hazards and cable damage.
Event Setup
* Coordinate with sound, stage, and decoration teams.
* Install trusses and lighting fixtures safely.
* Work at heights using ladders or lifts while following safety procedures.
* Complete setup within deadlines.
Equipment Maintenance
* Maintain lighting fixtures, cables, connectors, controllers, and power equipment.
* Test equipment before dispatch.
* Troubleshoot faulty fixtures, DMX cables, power supplies, and connectors.
* Keep inventory organized and report damaged equipment.
Safety
* Follow electrical safety standards at all times.
* Use PPE such as gloves, safety shoes, helmets, and harnesses when required.
* Ensure proper grounding and earthing.
* Never work on live circuits unless absolutely necessary and authorized.
* Keep work areas clean and hazard-free.
Required Skills
* Strong knowledge of event lighting equipment.
* Experience with DMX lighting systems.
* Understanding of electrical wiring and power distribution.
* Ability to calculate electrical loads.
* Experience operating diesel generators (DG Sets).
* Knowledge of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
* Ability to read electrical diagrams.
* Basic troubleshooting and repair skills.
* Teamwork and communication skills.
* Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
Preferred Qualifications
* ITI Electrician / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Experience in weddings, concerts, live events, or stage productions.
* Valid driving licence is an added advantage.
