The Biochemist is responsible for performing, analysing, validating, and reporting biochemical investigations while ensuring quality control, laboratory safety, and compliance with NABH/NABL standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Operations
Perform and supervise routine and specialized biochemical tests.
Analyze blood, urine, and other body fluid samples.
Validate test results before reporting.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of laboratory investigations.
Monitor critical values and communicate them promptly to clinicians.
Equipment Management
Operate and maintain fully automated biochemistry analyzers.
Perform daily calibration and quality control procedures.
Coordinate preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
Maintain reagent inventory and stock levels.
Quality Assurance
Implement Internal Quality Control (IQC) procedures.
Participate in External Quality Assurance Programs (EQAS).
Maintain NABH/NABL documentation and records.
Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards and protocols.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain laboratory registers and records.
Prepare monthly laboratory statistics and reports.
Ensure proper documentation of quality indicators and corrective actions.
Safety & Compliance
Follow biomedical waste management guidelines.
Adhere to infection control and laboratory safety protocols.
Ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals and reagents.
Training & Coordination
Train laboratory technicians and support staff.
Coordinate with consultants, clinicians, and nursing staff regarding investigations.
Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualification Essential: Msc Biochemistry, DMLT, BMLT
Experience Fresher to 10+ years experience Hospital laboratory experience preferred Experience with fully automated analysers is an added advantage Required Skills Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory Quality Control Automated Analyzer Operation Result Validation NABL/NABH Documentation Laboratory Information System (LIS) Inventory Management Communication and Reporting Skills Working Areas
