Job Summary:
The Bodyshop Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations within the body shop department at a Hyundai dealership, ensuring efficient repair processes, high-quality work, and exceptional customer service. This role involves managing a team of technicians, estimators, and support staff to meet revenue, productivity, and customer satisfaction targets. The Bodyshop Manager will work closely with the dealership’s sales, service, and parts departments to coordinate work flow and ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of the body shop, including scheduling repairs, coordinating staff assignments, and managing workflow.
- Ensure all repairs are completed according to Hyundai’s quality standards and in a timely manner.
- Optimize workshop efficiency, minimize repair cycle times, and ensure maximum productivity.
- Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and mentor body shop staff, including technicians, painters, estimators, and administrative personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations, set targets, and provide ongoing support and training.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, communication, and safety.
- Customer Service
- Provide outstanding customer service, addressing customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure all customer expectations are met or exceeded by maintaining high repair quality and adhering to delivery timelines.
- Handle escalated customer complaints and collaborate with the dealership’s management team to resolve issues.
- Quality Control and Safety
- Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure all repairs meet Hyundai’s standards.
- Enforce workplace safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and ensure compliance with regulatory and OEM standards.
- Financial and Budget Management
- Develop and manage the body shop budget, including expenses, revenue targets, and profit margins.
- Analyze department financials, including cost of repairs, labor rates, parts procurement, and resource allocation.
- Work closely with the dealership’s management team to create strategies for maximizing profitability.
- Inventory and Parts Management
- Coordinate with parts department to ensure timely and cost-effective parts sourcing.
- Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and track usage to minimize waste and ensure parts availability.
- Insurance and Claims Handling
- Work closely with insurance companies, adjusters, and customers to manage claims efficiently.
- Ensure that all claims are processed accurately and timely to expedite customer repairs.
- Reporting and Performance Tracking
- Maintain detailed records of all body shop activities, including repair times, parts usage, labor hours, and job costs.
- Generate reports on performance metrics, such as revenue, customer satisfaction, cycle times, and warranty repairs.
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in automotive technology, business management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in body shop or collision repair, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, preferably at an OEM dealership.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of automotive repair processes, materials, and equipment.
