Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled ERPNext / Frappe Developer to join our software development team. The candidate will be responsible for developing, customizing, integrating, and maintaining ERP solutions built on the Frappe Framework and ERPNext.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of Python, JavaScript, Frappe Framework, ERPNext architecture, REST APIs, MariaDB/MySQL, Git, and Linux environments, along with the ability to understand business processes and translate functional requirements into reliable ERP solutions.
The role will involve working on both standard ERPNext modules and custom business applications, including workflow automation, reports, dashboards, integrations, permissions, document management, and business-specific functionality.
Key Responsibilities1. ERPNext & Frappe Development
- Develop and maintain applications using the Frappe Framework and ERPNext.
- Customize standard ERPNext modules based on business requirements.
- Develop custom DocTypes, child tables, workflows, forms, reports, dashboards, print formats, and applications.
- Develop server-side functionality using Python and Frappe APIs.
- Develop client-side functionality using JavaScript and Frappe Client Scripts.
- Create reusable and maintainable custom Frappe applications rather than modifying ERPNext core wherever possible.
- Implement validations, business rules, automated processes, scheduled jobs, notifications, and background tasks.
2. ERPNext Customization
The developer should be comfortable working with ERPNext modules such as:

3. API Development & System Integration
- Develop and consume REST APIs for ERPNext/Frappe.
- Integrate ERPNext with third-party applications and external systems.
- Develop secure authentication and data-exchange mechanisms.
- Work with JSON-based APIs and webhooks.
- Develop integrations for applications such as:
- Mobile applications
- Web portals
- CRM systems
- E-commerce platforms
- Payment gateways
- Accounting systems
- Attendance/biometric systems
- External databases
- Business intelligence and reporting platforms
- Troubleshoot synchronization and integration issues.
- Implement appropriate logging, retry, validation, and error-handling mechanisms for integrations.
4. Reports & Dashboards
- Develop Query Reports, Script Reports, Report Builder reports, and custom dashboards.
- Write optimized SQL queries for operational and management reporting.
- Develop KPIs and management information dashboards.
- Create customized print formats for invoices, purchase orders, quotations, delivery notes, and other business documents.
- Ensure reports are accurate, performant, and suitable for business decision-making.
5. Database & Performance
- Work with MariaDB/MySQL databases used by Frappe/ERPNext.
- Write and optimize SQL queries.
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks.
- Understand database indexing and query optimization.
- Handle data migrations, imports, exports, and bulk updates.
- Maintain data integrity during application upgrades and migrations.
6. Deployment & Server Management
The candidate should have working knowledge of:

- Managing database and file backups.
- Supporting disaster recovery and restoration activities.
7. Business Process & Workflow Development
- Understand business requirements provided by functional teams and customers.
- Convert business processes into ERPNext workflows and system configurations.
- Configure approval hierarchies and authorization workflows.
- Implement role-based access controls and permissions.
- Automate repetitive operational processes.
- Identify opportunities where standard ERPNext functionality can be used instead of unnecessary custom development.
8. Testing & Quality Assurance
- Perform unit and functional testing of developed features.
- Test customizations before deployment to production.
- Identify and resolve bugs and regression issues.
- Maintain compatibility of custom applications with ERPNext/Frappe upgrades.
- Follow proper development, staging, testing, and production deployment processes.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain coding standards.
9. Documentation
- Maintain technical documentation for custom applications and integrations.
- Document APIs, configurations, workflows, and deployment procedures.
- Maintain change logs and release documentation.
- Document database migrations and significant system modifications.
- Prepare technical documentation to facilitate future maintenance and knowledge transfer.

Practical ERPNext/Frappe development capability will be given significant consideration alongside formal qualifications.
Experience
Preferred: 2–5 years of software development experience, with hands-on experience in ERPNext/Frappe.
Candidates should preferably have experience in:
- At least one complete ERPNext implementation or major customization project.
- Development of custom Frappe applications.
- ERPNext module customization.
- REST API development and third-party integrations.
- Report and dashboard development.
- Production deployment and troubleshooting.
- Git-based development workflows.
- ERPNext upgrades and migration management.
Preferred / Added Advantages

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is not simply a Python developer but someone who understands how an ERP system supports real business operations.
They should be capable of taking a requirement such as an approval process, inventory transaction, manufacturing workflow, sales process, financial control, or third-party integration and determining the most effective way to implement it within ERPNext.
The candidate should prioritize standard ERPNext functionality and configuration first, followed by controlled customization where required, while avoiding unnecessary changes to ERPNext core.
