Job Description: Build Support Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a Build Support Engineer to join our Scanner-Build Support team. In this role, you will provide critical technical support for our scanner development build infrastructure while taking ownership of system performance optimization and proactive monitoring. This is a hybrid support and technical improvement role that requires a quick learner with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset. About the Team The Scanner-Build Support team manages and supports build infrastructure for scanner developers. We maintain multiple build systems (clearcase build(makefile), Gradle, and Bazel) and are transitioning from Makefile to Bazel as our primary build platform. You will be part of a team that supports incidents, resolves build-related issues, and continuously improves our build systems and supporting tools. Key Responsibilities -Incident Support: Respond to and resolve build-related incidents for scanner developers, providing timely and effective troubleshooting across multiple build systems -Build System Management: Support and maintain build tools and workflows using Makefile, Gradle, and Bazel -Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in build systems and supporting infrastructure -Proactive Monitoring: Monitor build systems and related tools to detect and prevent issues before they impact developers -Tool & Infrastructure Support: Manage and support version control, collaboration tools, configuration management systems, and monitoring/analytics platforms -Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain documentation for build processes, troubleshooting guides, and best practices -Continuous Learning: Rapidly acquire domain-specific knowledge about customer customizations and build system configurations Required Qualifications - Strong Linux Operating System Knowledge: Deep understanding of Linux fundamentals, system administration, and troubleshooting (mandatory) - Build System Expertise: Hands-on experience with at least one build tool: - Makefile - Gradle - Bazel - C/C++ Build Systems: Knowledge of C/C++ build systems and compilation processes (development experience is a bonus) - Version Control & Collaboration: Proficiency with Git/GitHub and thorough understanding of Git workflows - Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to quickly diagnose complex issues and develop solutions in a fast-paced environment - Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and document solutions effectively Desired Qualifications - Additional Build Tool Experience: Hands-on experience with 5+ of the required build tools (Makefile, Gradle, Bazel) - ClearCase Knowledge: Experience with ClearCase or similar legacy SCM systems (valuable during our transition period) - Configuration Management: Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools: - Puppet - Ansible - Similar SCM/automation tools - Monitoring & Analytics Tools: Experience with: - Splunk - Similar monitoring, logging, or analytics pl
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide Technical Guidance And Solutions By Defining, Advocating, And Implementing Best Practices And Coding Standards In C++ Development To Ensure High-Quality Outputs From The Team.
2. Develop And Enhance Team Members' Technical Capabilities In C++, Employing Agile/Scrum Methodologies To Boost Productivity And Performance.
3. Ensure Process Compliance Within The Assigned Module And Participate As A Technical Consultant In Discussions To Assess Technical Feasibility, Evaluate Alternatives, Recommend Best Packages, And Identify Technical Risks.
4. Prepare And Submit Comprehensive Status Reports To Minimize Exposure And Risks On Projects While Effectively Managing Escalations.
Skill Requirements
1. Proficiency In C++ Programming Language With Solid Understanding Of Object-Oriented Design Principles.
2. Familiarity With Agile/Scrum Methodologies And Kanban Frameworks For Effective Project Management.
3. Strong Understanding Of Software Development Life Cycle (Sdlc) And Best Practices In Coding And Testing.
4. Excellent Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills With The Ability To Make Sound Technical Decisions.
