As an Electrical Engineer, you are responsible for designing, modifying, and troubleshooting electrical or electronic engineering assemblies, layouts, schematics, and drawings to advance the equipment that supports our technology. Using your technical experience and critical thinking skills, you will perform engineering analysis, generate test reports, develop innovative solutions, and create documentation for product releases. You will also coordinate the procurement and assembly of components, identify sources of critical parts, and resolve technical issues to ensure peak performance.
Role Overview
Applied Materials is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Lead to join our Bangalore team as a Deputy Director – Electrical Engineering. This role will partner closely with Business Unit (BU) stakeholders to drive project scoping, technical strategy, and execution excellence.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise across design and manufacturing, coupled with strong cross-functional collaboration skills. This leader will play a critical role in strengthening and elevating the technical capabilities of the Electrical Engineering (EE) team in India while contributing to global engineering initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Collaboration
Partner with Business Unit (BU) leaders and senior engineering stakeholders to define project scope, priorities, and technical direction
- Technical Leadership
Provide broad-based leadership across design and manufacturing domains, ensuring robust and scalable engineering solutions
- Domain Expertise
Leverage strong knowledge in PCB design, motion control systems, software, firmware, high-voltage systems, and RF technologies
- Problem Solving
Lead and drive complex technical problem-solving initiatives across cross-functional teams
- Cross-Functional Alignment
Strengthen collaboration and execution between engineering teams, business units, and global stakeholders
- Execution Excellence
Ensure timely delivery of projects with high-quality outcomes through effective planning and execution discipline
- People Leadership
Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement

Qualifications
- Education:
B.E / B.Tech or M.E / M.Tech in Electrical Engineering
- Experience:
10–15 years of relevant industry experience, with a strong background in electrical engineering and team leadership
