Job Summary
The Fettling Operator is responsible for removing excess metal, burrs, flash, runners, and gates from aluminium die-cast components using hand tools, pneumatic tools, grinding machines, and other finishing equipment. The role ensures that components meet quality standards and are prepared for subsequent operations such as machining, shot blasting, powder coating, or assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Remove flash, runners, gates, and excess material from aluminium castings.
- Operate grinding machines, belt sanders, pneumatic tools, and hand-held finishing equipment.
- Inspect castings for visible defects and report quality issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain dimensional and surface finish requirements as per work instructions.
- Segregate accepted and rejected components.
- Follow production targets and ensure timely completion of assigned work.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of fettling equipment.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
- Maintain workplace cleanliness as per 5S standards.
Qualifications
- less than 10th /+2/ITI / Diploma / Higher Secondary School education preferred.
- Prior experience in aluminium die casting, foundry, or manufacturing industry is an advantage.
- Freshers willing to work in production operations may also apply.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of grinding and finishing operations.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Basic understanding of quality requirements.
- Good physical stamina and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in shifts.
Working Conditions
- Shop-floor manufacturing environment.
- Standing and handling components for extended periods.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and heat; PPE usage is mandatory.
