Quality Engineer – Alloy Steel Castings
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer with strong expertise in alloy steel castings, metallurgical inspection, quality assurance, and defect analysis. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that castings meet customer specifications, international standards, and quality requirements through inspection, testing, documentation, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Perform visual, dimensional, and final inspection of alloy steel castings.
Inspect carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, heat-resistant steel, and other special grades.
Review manufacturing drawings, quality plans, customer specifications, and inspection procedures.
Identify and evaluate casting defects such as shrinkage, porosity, blow holes, cold shuts, hot tears, cracks, inclusions, misruns, sand inclusions, fins, laps, and warpage.
Coordinate and witness NDT activities including VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT.
Verify Mechanical Test Certificates (MTC), chemical analysis reports, heat treatment records, hardness reports, and NDT reports.
Conduct dimensional inspection using Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, depth gauges, CMM (preferred), and other precision measuring instruments.
Ensure compliance with ASTM, ASME, AISI, DIN, EN, IS, ISO, API, and customer-specific standards.
Prepare inspection reports, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), CAPA reports, and quality documentation.
Perform root cause analysis of quality issues using 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and other quality tools.
Coordinate with foundry production, machining, heat treatment, and customer inspection teams.
Support third-party inspections and customer audits.
Participate in supplier quality audits and process improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Production Engineering, or equivalent.
5–10 years of experience in alloy steel casting inspection and quality assurance.
Required Technical Skills
Thorough knowledge of alloy steel casting manufacturing processes.
Strong understanding of casting metallurgy and steel grades.
Experience with NDT methods (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT).
Knowledge of heat treatment processes and mechanical testing.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and quality standards.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
Good knowledge of inspection documentation and traceability requirements.
Preferred Knowledge
ASTM, ASME, API, ISO, EN, DIN, and IS standards.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, FMEA, SPC, and 8D methodology.
ERP/SAP quality documentation.

This JD is suitable for recruiting a Quality Engineer in foundries manufacturing alloy steel valves, pump castings, turbine components, heavy engineering castings, and pressure-retaining components.
Pay: ₹1,000.00 - ₹1,500.00 per day
