Role Overview
We are looking for a CAD Design & GD&T Engineer to support Cobot Cell and AMR design engineering, including 2D/3D layout development, mechanical/fixture/tooling design and creation of manufacturing-ready drawings with accurate GD&T.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 2D/3D plant layouts integrating cobots/robots, conveyors, fixtures, safety fencing and operator workstations.
- Design mechanical structures, fixtures and tooling, considering structural strength, installation, mobility, height adjustment and maintenance access.
- Design EOAT, grippers, vacuum tooling and fixtures based on part geometry, weight and process requirements.
- Select appropriate pneumatic, electric and vacuum actuation and standard components.
- Create detailed 2D part, assembly and sub-assembly drawings from 3D CAD models, including BOMs, sections, details, notes and revision history.
- Apply GD&T, datum schemes and Datum Reference Frames (DRFs) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101.
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and support tolerance allocation for fit, form and function.
- Review supplier/vendor drawings for GD&T accuracy and design-intent compliance.
- Participate in DFM/DFA, FAI and PPAP activities and dimensional inspection reviews.
- Manage drawing revisions/releases through PLM/PDM systems and coordinate with design, manufacturing, quality and suppliers.
- Resolve engineering queries and support timely delivery of drawings and project deliverables.
Mandatory Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in 3D CAD modelling and mechanical drafting.
- Good knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
- Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101, datum structures and tolerance practices.
- Ability to interpret complex assembly drawings and technical specifications.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and DFM principles.
- Experience with one or more: NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Cobot/Robot cell, AMR, fixture, tooling or EOAT design.
- Experience with 1D/2D/3D tolerance stack-up.
- Exposure to Teamcenter / AWC / Windchill / SolidWorks PDM.
- Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, casting or injection moulding.
- ASME GDTP certification is an advantage.
Candidate Profile
Mechanical Design/CAD Engineer with 3–6 years of relevant experience, strong CAD and GD&T fundamentals, manufacturing knowledge and the ability to work effectively with design, manufacturing, quality and supplier teams in a fast-paced engineering environment.
