Position Overview
The Transition Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and executing the transition of IT infrastructure and managed services from incumbent providers or internal teams to the organization's service delivery model. This role ensures seamless knowledge transfer, minimal disruption to business operations, and alignment with contractual obligations and service-level agreements (SLAs).
Key Responsibilities
. Transition Planning & Governance Develop and own transition plans, timelines, and governance frameworks. Define scope, objectives, and success criteria for transition projects. Establish risk management and mitigation strategies.
. Stakeholder Management Act as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal teams during transition. Facilitate workshops, status reviews, and steering committee meetings. Ensure clear communication of progress, risks, and dependencies.
. Knowledge Transfer & Service Readiness Oversee structured knowledge transfer from incumbent providers to delivery teams. Validate documentation, processes, and operational readiness. Ensure service teams are trained and equipped to take over operations.
. Operational Integration Coordinate with service delivery, infrastructure, and support teams to integrate transitioned services. Align transition outcomes with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request). Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
. Performance & Reporting
. Track transition milestones, deliverables, and KPIs.
. Provide regular reports to senior management and clients.
. Conduct post-transition reviews and lessons-learned sessions.
Required Skills & Experience
. Proven experience (8–12 years) in IT Infrastructure and Managed Services, with at least 3–5 years in transition or program management.
. Strong understanding of ITIL framework and service management practices.
. Experience managing large-scale transitions (e.g., data center migrations, cloud adoption, outsourcing/offshoring).
. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
. Strong project management expertise (PMP/Prince2 certification preferred).
. Ability to manage cross-functional teams across geographies.
. Familiarity with contractual obligations, SLAs, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master's preferred).
. Certifications in ITIL, PMP/Prince2, or equivalent are highly desirable.
