About the job:
Opella Digital is building a Global Project Management Practice within Strategy & Transformation to drive delivery predictability, cost efficiency and methodology consistency across the entire Digital portfolio — including Butterfly, the digital transformation programme, and the full spectrum of Digital BAU projects.
The Project Manager leads the successful delivery of one or more Digital projects — on scope, on time, on budget and to the expected quality — applying Opella's SIMPLE methodology as the single standard. Beyond the mechanics of delivery, the PM is accountable for the judgment calls, governance and stakeholder alignment that determine whether a project actually lands.
This is an AI-augmented role. As routine project administration — status reporting, scheduling, resource allocation and first-draft communications — is increasingly handled by AI, the role elevates toward judgment-based, relationship-driven work. Our PMs direct and validate AI outputs, keep a human in the loop on high-stakes calls, and turn AI-generated insight into clear decisions for stakeholders. AI augments the role; it does not replace the accountability that sits with the PM.
As a consumer-health company, delivery decisions must respect compliance, quality and patient-safety standards. The PM ensures that project outcomes — and any AI-assisted recommendations — stay aligned with Opella's regulatory obligations and risk tolerance.
Main responsibilities:
1. Project delivery & planning (AI-augmented)
- Plan and deliver one or more Digital projects within scope, time, cost and quality, applying the SIMPLE methodology end-to-end.
- Define and schedule deliverables, milestones, activities and dependencies; build and maintain the project plan.
- Use AI-augmented tooling for scheduling, reporting and resource views — validating AI-generated plans and allocations rather than simply accepting them.
- Manage budget and resources so the right people are on the right work, at the right time and cost.
2. AI-enabled governance & decision ownership
- Validate AI-generated recommendations (prioritisation, resource allocation, risk and anomaly detection) before acting on them.
- Apply clear escalation protocols — when to trust AI, when to override it, when to escalate — keeping governance lightweight and scaled to project criticality.
- Own the judgment calls AI cannot make: cross-functional trade-offs, strategic ambiguity and stakeholder conflict, with human-in-the-loop checkpoints for high-stakes or compliance-sensitive approvals.
3. Risk, quality & compliance
- Identify, track and mitigate risks and issues; maintain gate reviews and documentation in line with SIMPLE.
- Ensure project outcomes and AI-assisted decisions align with healthcare compliance, quality and patient-safety standards and Opella's risk tolerance.
4. Stakeholder orchestration & consensus
- Orchestrate delivery across technical, business and, where relevant quality stakeholders, broker consensus across competing priorities.
- Set and manage expectations, sustain stakeholder trust, and influence without authority across teams the PM does not directly control.
5. Data storytelling & reporting
- Translate AI-generated dashboards, forecasts and trade-off scenarios into clear, actionable narratives for sponsors and executives.
- Provide consistent, transparent status and decisions — helping stakeholders understand what the data means and what to do with it.
6. Agent & tool orchestration
- Direct how AI tools and agents execute routine project tasks (status roll-ups, scheduling, drafting communications), review their outputs and manage exceptions.
- Keep AI behaviour aligned with project goals and Opella standards.
7. Methodology adherence & continuous improvement
- Apply and uphold the SIMPLE methodology; complete methodology onboarding and the Project Readiness Checklist before project activation.
- Coach team members on delivery discipline; at senior levels, coach and mentor junior project managers and review external providers' delivery plans.
- Continuously improve delivery practice and maintain the manual competence needed to audit and sanity-check AI logic (guarding against skill atrophy).

· Hands-on experience with enterprise PPM and collaboration tooling (Planisware, Jira, Confluence or equivalent).
· Team coaching and clear written and verbal communication.
Emerging AI skills (forward-looking)
· Comfort directing and validating AI / GenAI tools within delivery workflows.
· AI governance and human-in-the-loop decision-making.
· Agent orchestration — directing and reviewing AI agents and digital tools.
· Data interpretation and storytelling.
· A continuous-learning mindset to keep pace with evolving AI tooling.
Experience
· Senior / Expert: ~7+ years, including 5 years managing complex, higher-risk projects; coaching junior PMs; reviewing and approving external providers' delivery plans.
Preferred
· Experience in healthcare, consumer health (FMCH) or pharmaceuticals.
· Familiarity with AI-augmented PPM platforms and GenAI collaboration tools.
· PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe or equivalent — a plus, not a requirement.
