IT Support Intern – Job Description
We are looking for an IT Support Intern to assist in maintaining and supporting the organization's IT infrastructure, systems, and end-user devices. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring smooth day-to-day IT operations. This role is ideal for individuals with prior internship or hands-on IT support experience who are looking to build their careers in Information Technology.
Responsibilities
Provide first-level technical support to employees and end users.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and system-related issues.
Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
Assist users with operating system, email, and application-related problems.
Support user account creation, password resets, and access management.
Monitor and maintain IT systems, networks, and devices.
Assist in software installations, updates, and patch management.
Document technical issues, resolutions, and support requests.
Coordinate with senior IT staff to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and best practices.
Maintain inventory records of IT assets and equipment.
Provide remote support to users when required.
Required Skills
Understanding of Computer Hardware and Troubleshooting.
Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows and Linux).
Familiarity with Networking Fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN).
Knowledge of Software Installation and Configuration.
Understanding of User Account and Access Management.
Basic knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft Office 365.
Familiarity with Remote Desktop and IT Support Tools.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to document technical issues and resolutions effectively.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Help Desk or Ticketing Systems.
Knowledge of Network Devices such as Routers, Switches, and Access Points.
Basic understanding of Cyber Security and IT Security Best Practices.
Familiarity with Cloud Platforms such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
Knowledge of Backup and Recovery Processes.
IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Google IT Support, or similar are a plus.
Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
Candidates with relevant internship experience, technical projects, or IT certifications are encouraged to apply.
Experience
6 months – 1 year of experience in IT Support, Technical Support, Help Desk, Desktop Support, or a related role.
Compensation: No fixed monthly stipend. A performance-based stipend or completion bonus may be awarded at the end of the internship based on performance, attendance, and successful completion of assigned responsibilities.
Timings:
5 hours per day, morning/ evening shift
5 days working 5 hours, 2 hours working on Saturdays
