We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and results-driven R&D Manager with 4 to 5 years of hands-on experience in the chemical manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will spearhead our research initiatives, drive new product development (NPD), optimize existing chemical formulations, and successfully manage lab scale-ups to commercial production. This role requires strong technical expertise in chemistry, excellent team leadership, and a deep commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Roles and Responsibilities
- New Product Development (NPD): Lead the synthesis, formulation, and development of new chemical products from bench scale to pilot plant, aligning with market requirements and company growth goals.
- Process Optimization: Analyze and re-engineer existing formulations and manufacturing processes to improve yield, enhance quality, reduce cycles, and minimize production costs.
- Lab to Plant Scale-Up: Collaborate closely with the Production and Projects teams to ensure seamless technology transfer from the R&D lab to commercial-scale manufacturing.
- Raw Material Evaluation: Identify, test, and validate alternative raw materials to ensure supply chain resilience and cost-effectiveness without compromising product quality.
- Analytical & Quality Support: Oversee the testing and characterization of compounds using standard laboratory instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis) and establish strict internal testing protocols.
- Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure all laboratory operations strictly adhere to environment, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines, MSDS protocols, and local hazardous chemical regulations.
- Documentation & IP: Maintain meticulous laboratory journals, prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs), generate technical reports, and assist in drafting documents for intellectual property (patents).
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and train a lean team of junior chemists and lab technicians, fostering a highly collaborative and innovative work culture.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Organic/Analytical/Industrial Chemistry, or B.Tech / M.Tech in Chemical Engineering / Polymer Technology.
- Experience: 4 to 5 years of core R&D laboratory experience specifically within chemical manufacturing (e.g., fine chemicals, specialty chemicals, APIs, polymers, or agrochemicals).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms, chemical synthesis, formulation development, and mass balance calculations.
- Instrument Handling: Practical, hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting advanced analytical laboratory equipment.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, project management skills, strong team-handling capability, and fluent communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional plant heads.
