ob Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical and material testing according to ASTM, ISO, IS and customer-specified standards.
- Operate testing equipment such as UTM, impact tester, hardness tester, MFI, HDT/Vicat and abrasion tester.
- Prepare, condition and identify test specimens correctly.
- Record test observations, raw data and equipment readings accurately.
- Calculate test results and prepare technical test reports.
- Review customer test requirements and confirm testing feasibility.
- Maintain equipment usage logs, environmental records and monitoring sheets.
- Follow laboratory SOPs, work instructions and safety procedures.
- Support equipment calibration, intermediate checks and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain test sample traceability and laboratory documentation.
- Assist with ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL documentation and audits.
- Immediately report equipment abnormalities or deviations from the test method.
Qualification
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Polymer, Plastics, Materials or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum one year of experience in a material-testing, product-testing or quality-control laboratory.
- Basic knowledge of ASTM, ISO and IS testing standards.
- Experience in mechanical or polymer testing is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and customer specifications.
- Good documentation, calculation and communication skills.
- Willingness to work at the Chrompet or Oragadam laboratory.
