Lead Product Manager – Bank Connectivity Delivery
Location: Chennai, India | Type: Full-Time
About the Role
The Lead Product Manager drives the delivery and strategic execution of bank connectivity initiatives across global payment rails. This role combines hands-on product leadership with people management, mentoring a small team of product managers while actively partnering with engineering and delivery teams. The role works closely with global technical teams to deliver SWIFT and API-based integrations to partner banks across the full payment lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities –
Product Strategy Delivery (65–70%)
Lead delivery of cross-border, regional, and domestic rail integrations via API, SWIFT, and host-to-host connectivity.
Translate bank specifications into detailed product and engineering requirements and delivery plans.
Drive integration testing, certification, and production go-live processes.
Manage post-integration lifecycle ensuring reliability and operational stability.
Define and monitor integration success metrics including reliability, reconciliation accuracy, SLA adherence, and operational efficiency.
Develop reusable integration patterns to accelerate future bank onboarding.
Collaborate with engineering squads across multiple geographies during design, build, and sprint planning.
Ensure integrations meet resilience, observability, and operational readiness standards.
Ensure complete lifecycle coverage including acknowledgements, status reporting, returns, and reconciliation.
Design and validate exception handling and operational edge cases across distributed payment systems.
Design integrations with strong principles of idempotency, auditability, and operational observability.
Team Leadership & Product Development (30–35%)
Lead and mentor a small team of Senior Product Managers and/or Junior Product Managers.
Provide guidance on product discovery, stakeholder management, and delivery execution.
Establish strong product management practices including roadmap planning, prioritization, and documentation.
Support team members in managing bank integrations and cross‑functional collaboration.
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the product team.
Partner with senior leadership to align team priorities with strategic product goals.
What We’re Looking For
6–8+ years of experience in payments product management or platform delivery.
Experience mentoring or leading product managers or cross‑functional teams.
Experience delivering API-based bank integrations.
Strong knowledge of SWIFT and ISO20022 messaging standards.
Working knowledge of global and regional payment schemes, such as ACH, FedNow, SEPA Credit Transfer, SEPA Instant, SEPA Direct Debit, and familiarity with additional domestic clearing systems and local payment rails.
Experience working with cross-border and domestic payment rails.
Strong collaboration with Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams.
Experience with product and engineering tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Ability to coordinate work across globally distributed teams.
