Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Responsibilities:
As the Manager for Plant Vehicle Team in the DAC segment, you will lead cross-functional vehicle level joint investigations to identify and resolve root causes of field concerns across India. You will be responsible for driving vehicles yourself to accurately assess issues firsthand and ensure thorough understanding of vehicle dynamics and system behaviour.
Your expertise in vehicle systems will guide the resolution of internal concerns regarding DAC assemblies. You will analyse data collected from field complaints, monitor trends daily, and assess the effectiveness of corrective actions taken.
A key part of your role includes generating detailed MIS reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting critical field concerns and improvement initiatives. You'll collaborate closely with manufacturing teams, supplier quality, and design departments to implement timely and effective solutions for both field and internal issues.
You will ensure speedy and time-bound closure of emerging problems, especially those causing immobilisation, to safeguard vehicle reliability and customer satisfaction.
Key Deliverables:
Achieve measurable reduction in field failures and warranty-related costs through robust problem-solving and corrective actions.
Maintain strict turnaround times (TAT) for failed component analysis, field escalations, and overall concern resolution to enhance responsiveness.
Deliver concise, data-driven reports and presentations that support data transparency and informed decision-making at higher management levels.
Your leadership and technical acumen will be critical in maintaining high quality standards and driving continuous improvement across vehicle systems within the organisation.
Experience
The ideal candidate will bring 8 to 10 years of extensive experience within the automobile Product Validation (PV) segment. This experience should demonstrate a progressive track record in leading vehicle investigations, troubleshooting complex system concerns, and applying advanced quality and analytical tools to drive defect resolution.
Extensive hands-on knowledge of DAC (Drive Axle Components) vehicle systems is expected, including chassis, suspension, steering, and wheel-end assemblies. Previous roles should highlight capability in coordinating cross-functional teams and managing field failure reduction initiatives.
Experience with root cause analysis techniques such as QC Story and 8D, as well as data analysis proficiency, will be essential. Proven skills in collaborating with manufacturing, supplier quality, and design teams to implement corrective and preventive actions are highly desirable.
Strong communication skills to effectively report findings and present to senior management will enhance your success in this role.
Industry Preferred
Industry Preferred: Candidates with a background in the automotive manufacturing sector, particularly within passenger vehicle validation and quality assurance divisions, will find this role highly aligned with their expertise.
Experience working at automotive OEMs or tier-1 supplier organizations that specialise in drive axle components, chassis assemblies, or related vehicle subsystems is highly favourable.
Preference will be given to those familiar with quality systems and manufacturing processes pertinent to fabrication, sheet metal working, and machining in the automotive industry.
Insight into the automotive warranty and field failure ecosystem, along with participation in cross-country field investigations, will be valuable for effective execution of the role.
Qualifications
A full-time bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech) is required, with specialisation in Mechanical, Production, Automobile, or Mechatronics disciplines. This technical foundation equips candidates with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to excel in vehicle systems analysis and quality management.
Additional certifications or training in quality tools, root cause analysis methodologies, or automotive quality standards will be considered advantageous.
General Requirements
To succeed in this position, candidates must:
Demonstrate a hands-on approach and willingness to actively engage in on-site investigations and problem solving.
Be flexible and prepared to travel extensively on short notice throughout India to participate in joint vehicle investigations.
Possess in-depth knowledge of vehicle systems including DAC components like chassis, suspension, steering, and wheel ends.
Have a thorough understanding of vehicle level interfaces within DAC systems ensuring comprehensive integration awareness.
Be familiar with manufacturing processes such as fabrication, sheet metal work, and machining to support root cause analysis.
Execute systematic root cause investigations applying QC story approach, 8D methodology, and relevant problem-solving tools effectively.
Be conversant with Design of Experiments (DOE) techniques, fault tree analysis, Ishikawa diagrams, and statistical analysis tools to support investigations.
Demonstrate knowledge of basic and advanced Quality Control (QC) tools to facilitate ongoing quality improvements.
Understand and interpret engineering drawings, process flow diagrams, and control plans accurately.
Exhibit strong data management skills, adept in analysing data sets to generate actionable insights.
Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.
Have working knowledge of contemporary data analytics tools including Power BI and AI-enabled technologies to enhance investigative outcomes.
