About Indpro
Established in 2004, Indpro Engineering Systems Pvt. Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of pneumatic conveying systems and a single-point solution provider for bulk solids handling — spanning raw material handling to finished-product bagging. The company is ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 certified, with over 21 years of engineering experience, 1000+ installations across 20+ countries, and a 70% repeat-order rate from marquee clients in the plastics & polymers, chemical & petrochemical, food & spices, and brewery & distillery sectors.
Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer (3D-2D) with 4-6 years of hands-on experience in mechanical/plant layout design for bulk material handling, pneumatic conveying, or process equipment industries. The role owns the accuracy, clash-free quality, and on-time delivery of 3D models and 2D GA/fabrication drawings for turnkey projects, while coordinating closely with civil, piping, and electrical teams and mentoring junior design engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review clash-free plant/equipment layouts, ensuring correct equipment placement and compliance with process and layout requirements.
- Verify maintenance access and safety clearances are built into every layout as per engineering review standards.
- Develop 3D models (equipment, structures, and utilities) with complete assembly detail and run clash/interference detection prior to release.
- Produce accurate 2D General Arrangement (GA) and fabrication drawings with clear dimensioning, minimizing revision cycles (target: ≤2 per drawing).
- Plan and track layout/design deliverables against the project schedule, ensuring on-time release of drawings and milestone adherence.
- Coordinate proactively with civil, piping, and electrical departments to resolve interfaces and incorporate design inputs within agreed turnaround times (< 48 hours).
- Drive engineering optimization — reducing equipment footprint/material usage and improving accessibility for operation and maintenance — with documented improvements.
- Mentor and guide junior design engineers through design reviews and periodic training sessions, reducing recurring design errors.
- Ensure 100% compliance with company design standards, QA checks, and drawing revision control/documentation practices.
Key Result Areas (KRA) & KPIs
Performance in this role will be measured against the following areas (source: Indpro Senior Design Engineer KRA-KPI framework):
- Layout Design Accuracy — zero clashes, 100% correct equipment placement, 100% maintenance & safety clearance compliance
- 3D Modeling Quality — zero clash assemblies, 100% model completeness
- 2D Layout Drawing Quality — ≤2 revision cycles, 100% dimensioning clarity/engineering sign-off
- Project Schedule Adherence — ≥95% on-time layout releases, milestones met as per project tracking
- Interdepartmental Coordination — positive coordination feedback, <48-hour turnaround on design change inputs
- Engineering Optimization — documented footprint/material reduction and verified accessibility improvements
- Mentoring & Team Support — 2-4 training/design-review sessions per year, measurable reduction in junior engineer errors
- Standards & Documentation — 100% QA compliance and drawing revision control
Required Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and a 3D modeling platform such as SolidWorks.
- Strong understanding of GA drawings, P&ID interpretation, and mechanical layout design principles.
- Working knowledge of plant/process equipment layout for bulk material handling, pneumatic conveying, or similar process industries preferred.
- Ability to run and resolve clash/interference detection across multi-discipline models.
- Strong coordination and communication skills to work across civil, piping, and electrical teams.
- Attention to detail, ownership of drawing quality, and adherence to documentation/revision-control standards.
- Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor junior engineers.
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in mechanical/plant design, preferably in bulk solids handling, pneumatic conveying, process/material handling equipment, or capital equipment industries.
