Job Description:
To lead execution of mechanical construction and project activities in steel plants, including expansion, brownfield, and greenfield projects. Ensure delivery of projects within cost, time, quality, and safety benchmarks, aligned with statutory and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and drive project execution as per approved timelines for steel plant units such as Blast Furnace, Steel Melting Shop (SMS), Rolling Mills, Raw Material Handling Systems (RMHS), and Utilities.
- Execute mechanical works including equipment erection, piping, structural assemblies, conveyors, crushers, pumps, compressors, and utility systems.
- Review and monitor project schedules, daily/weekly progress, and milestone adherence; prepare MIS reports for leadership review.
- Ensure compliance with engineering drawings (P&IDs, GA drawings, layouts) and technical specifications during execution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (civil, electrical, automation), OEMs, and contractors for seamless project execution.
- Drive vendor management, including resource mobilization, productivity tracking, and adherence to contractual deliverables.
- Identify bottlenecks in execution and implement mitigation plans; escalate critical risks impacting project timelines or cost.
- Ensure strict adherence to EHS standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance systems in a high-risk steel plant environment.
- Lead commissioning and trial runs of mechanical systems and ensure completion of project as per scope followed by smooth handover to operations.
- Oversee billing, measurement certification, documentation, and contract compliance for vendors.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance construction productivity, cost optimization, and process efficiency.
