Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Quality Management
- Ensure incoming parts from suppliers meet drawing and specification requirements.
- Review and approve PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documents and samples.
- Monitor supplier quality performance (PPM, rejections, delivery issues) and drive improvement actions.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with suppliers.
- Ensure closure of supplier non-conformance reports (NCRs) within agreed timelines.
2. Supplier Audit & Evaluation
- Plan and conduct supplier audits (process, system, and product audits) as per IATF 16949 standards.
- Evaluate supplier capability for new part development and regular supply.
- Identify high-risk suppliers and initiate improvement or development programs.
- Participate in supplier selection and approval processes in coordination with the purchase and development teams.
3. New Product Development (NPD) Support
- Collaborate with the project and purchase teams for early supplier involvement during new product development.
- Review supplier APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) documents and validate process control plans.
- Support tooling trials, sample validation, and process capability (Cp, Cpk) studies at supplier end.
- Approve PPAP submission and ensure readiness for SOP (Start of Production).
4. Supplier Development & Continuous Improvement
- Support suppliers in implementing quality improvement techniques like 8D, FMEA, SPC, and MSA.
- Facilitate training and technical guidance to suppliers for quality system improvement.
- Drive localization and cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality.
- Implement performance-based rating and reward mechanisms for suppliers.
5. Quality Systems & Compliance
- Ensure supplier processes align with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Maintain and update supplier quality documentation and audit records.
- Coordinate with customers for any supplier-related quality concerns or warranty issues.
- Support internal and external audits (customer, IATF, system audits).
