Job Summary
The Lab Incharge is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of test results, maintaining quality standards, managing laboratory staff, and ensuring compliance with NABH, safety, and infection control guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily operations of the laboratory.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing and reporting of laboratory investigations.
- Monitor and maintain quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures.
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards and statutory regulations.
- Supervise, guide, and evaluate laboratory technicians and support staff.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration.
- Monitor inventory of laboratory reagents, consumables, and equipment.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of laboratory records.
- Coordinate with consultants, clinicians, and other departments regarding laboratory services.
- Ensure adherence to infection control and biomedical waste management protocols.
- Handle internal and external quality assurance programs.
- Prepare monthly laboratory reports and performance indicators.
- Conduct staff training and competency assessments.
- Address patient and clinician concerns related to laboratory services.
Qualification
- B.Sc. MLT / DMLT (Mandatory)
- M.Sc. MLT (Preferred)
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in a hospital laboratory.
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or in-charge role.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and quality systems.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of NABH standards.
- Computer proficiency and Laboratory Information System (LIS) knowledge.
- Ability to manage inventory and documentation.
Working Hours
As per hospital policy and duty roster.
