Role Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing core accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting timely financial reporting. The role involves managing general ledger activities, account reconciliations, financial analysis, compliance, audits, and month-end/year-end closing processes while supporting continuous improvement within the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including balance sheet and profit & loss accounts.
- Review and monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, and provisions.
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Prepare periodic financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing insights to management.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal control procedures.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide all required documentation and explanations.
- Support financial process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial data and company information.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to junior accounting staff and assist in team development.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial recording and reporting of transactions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as CA Inter, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a senior accounting or supervisory role.
- Experience in handling financial reporting, reconciliations, audits, and statutory compliance.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software/ERP systems such as Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Good understanding of audit processes, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Leadership and mentoring capabilities to support and develop junior team members.
Preferred Industry Experience
- Experience in Shipping, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, NVOCC, Liner Operations, or Maritime Industry will be an added advantage.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
