Role description
Cloud Engineer / Cloud Solutions Engineer (Multi-Cloud)
Role Summary: Cloud engineer supporting COBD application teams with hands-on delivery plus cloud best practices: driving scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient designs across a multi-cloud strategy. Strong communicator who can clearly present system diagrams to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with application engineers to design, implement, and optimize cloud-native services (performance, reliability, scalability, cost).
- Provide cloud best practices guidance: security, networking, IAM, observability, resiliency, DR, and operational readiness.
- Lead cost optimization efforts (FinOps): right-sizing, autoscaling, storage/lifecycle policies, utilization tracking, and cost guardrails.
- Create high-quality system diagrams and architecture artifacts; present solutions clearly in design reviews and stakeholder forums.
- Support integrations between COBD and enterprise platforms/solutions (e.g., PI platform, Timber, EPDA), including hybrid and multi-cloud patterns.
- Evaluate and communicate trade-offs across cloud options and reference architectures; recommend pragmatic paths forward.
- Be hands-on when needed: infrastructure provisioning, automation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years in cloud engineering/architecture with experience supporting production systems.
- Strong experience in at least one major cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) and comfort working in multi-cloud environments.
- Expertise in cloud foundations: networking, IAM, security controls, compute, storage, and managed services.
- Proven ability to drive scalable/resilient architecture (HA, fault tolerance, DR patterns).
- Strong skills in infrastructure automation and CI/CD (Terraform/CloudFormation/Bicep, pipelines, GitOps preferred).
- Excellent documentation and presentation skills; ability to produce clear diagrams and communicate design decisions.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Kubernetes and containers (EKS/AKS/GKE), service mesh, API gateways, and event-driven architectures.
- Observability tooling experience (logs/metrics/tracing) and incident management support.
- FinOps experience with measurable cost reduction outcomes.
- Experience integrating with enterprise platforms and compliance/security requirements in regulated environments.
- Candidate Profile:
- Self-starter (“go-getter”) who proactively identifies improvements, drives alignment, and delivers end-to-end outcomes.
