Pharmacist
Pharmacists are essential healthcare providers and medication experts. Their core responsibilities include verifying and dispensing prescriptions, monitoring for harmful drug interactions, providing vaccinations, and educating patients on safe medication use to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
Their daily duties are structured around several primary pillars of patient care and pharmacy operations:.
1.Medication Management & Dispensing
- Prescription Verification:
- Reviewing prescriptions from physicians to ensure dosages are accurate, appropriate for the patient, and completely free of potential errors.
- Drug Utilization Review (DUR): Screening for dangerous drug-drug interactions, food interactions, and contraindications related to the patient’s medical history.
- Dispensing & Compounding: Preparing, mixing (compounding), and labeling medications exactly as prescribed.
2. Direct Patient Care & Education
- Consultation: Advising patients on how and when to take their medicine, potential side effects, and storage requirements.
- Preventive Care: Administering immunizations (like flu and shingles shots) and performing health and wellness screenings.
- Over-the-Counter (OTC) Advice: Helping patients identify suitable OTC remedies for minor ailments and referring them to physicians when necessary.
3. Collaboration & Clinical Practice
- Doctor-Pharmacist Communication: Collaborating with physicians and nurses to select the best medication therapies and adjusting dosages based on lab results.
- Therapy Monitoring: Tracking patient progress in hospital and clinical settings to evaluate if a treatment is safe and effective.
- Medication Therapy Management (MTM): Conducting comprehensive reviews of a patient's entire drug regimen (frequently done for older adults) to minimize adverse effects and reduce costs.
4. Operations & Compliance
- Inventory Control: Managing the procurement, proper storage (including cold chain monitoring), and disposal of pharmaceuticals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhering strictly to local and national laws regarding controlled substances, expired drugs, and quality assurance.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
