Academic Qualifications
- Primary Requirement: A recognized postgraduate degree, specifically MD (Medicine) or MD (Paediatrics), or DNB (General Medicine/Paediatrics).
- Super Specialty Requirement: DM (Nephrology) or DNB (Nephrology), which is a 3-year full-time course after MD/DNB.
- Pediatric Nephrology: For pediatric nephrology, a DM in Pediatric Nephrology is required, following specialized training. NMC +3
Eligibility to Practice (Nephrologist)
- Training Pattern: The candidate must complete a 3-year full-time training program (DM/DNB) in a recognized institution.
- Registration: The degree must be registered with the NMC or State Medical Council.
- Selection: Admission to the DM/DNB course is solely through the NEET-SS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Super Specialty). AIIMS Nagpur +1
Eligibility for Faculty (Teaching) PositionsFor a nephrologist to be a teacher (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) in a medical college, the following NMC requirements apply:
- Assistant Professor: MD/DNB (Medicine/Paediatrics) + DM/DNB (Nephrology) with one year of Senior Residency in the subject in a recognized medical college.
- Experience & Research: As per the Teachers Eligibility Qualifications (TEQ) regulations, faculty must have specified research publications in indexed journals and completed Basic Course in Medical Education Technology (MET) and Biomedical Research.
- Age Limit: Must be below 45 years at the time of initial
