The RtR team has responsibility for a range of controllership activities including fixed assets, month end close, balance sheet reconciliations, consolidation and external reporting, as well as other special projects. Services are provided to many of ITT’s businesses, located around the globe. ITT is US owned, therefore a strong controls environment must be maintained, to ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
The Accountant role is the technical lead in RtR, with responsibility for ensuring accurate, timely and efficient provision of services to a number of ITT’s businesses and corporate functions. They act as the key RtR contact point for their assigned businesses and work with other Accountants to appropriately assign workload to team members and monitor / manage progress.
- Review journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, payroll, reserves, WIP, POC, taxes etc.
- Review capital projects, fixed assets and lease accounting entries
- Calculate / review cash and bank related accounting entries, including cash pooling, loans, interest, foreign exchange, intercompany charges, netting transactions etc.
- Prepare / review various tax calculations and submissions
- Review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure compliance against key criteria and ensure all reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner. Carry out balance sheet reviews with FSS and business leaders.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with SOX requirements and implement improved controls, where required
- Review O/S consolidation accounts and correct any errors, imbalances or missing information
- Ensure the reported accounts are fully understood, accurate and compliant
- Prepare / review KPI data, scorecards and other MI and take appropriate action, based on results
- Review all standard operating procedures to ensure these are accurate and up to date
- Support budgeting, forecasting and review processes for businesses and corporate functions
- Work with internal and external audit teams to manage annual or ad-hoc audits
- Act as first point of escalation for FA&R process enquiries
- Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives across RtR team
- Drive collaboration and good working relationships with supported businesses and other FSS teams
- Provide expertise for process changes or transition of work into / out of SSC
- Participate / lead on special accounting and other projects, as assigned
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Advances Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Outlook and especially Excel
- Comfortable with a changing, fast paced environment
- Able to communicate and work effectively with other team members, including senior management
- Able to be flexible with working hours, to ensure time sensitive activities and projects are completed on schedule, especially around month end close
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
- Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good attention to detail
- >3 years financial accounting experience in a large, complex organization and reporting
- Good, all-round knowledge of financial accounting processes – either through education or experience
- Experience of SAP or other large ERP system
- Educated to degree level
- Holder of a recognized, professional Accountancy qualification
- Experience of consolidation software, such as One Stream
- Experience of management information systems, including report writing
- Working knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles
- Previous experience working in a shared services environment
- Additional European language (other than English)
- Supervisory experience
- Manufacturing industry experience
