Job Summary
The NDT Inspector is responsible for performing non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on materials, components, and welded structures to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications. The role involves identifying defects, preparing inspection reports, and maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform NDT inspections using applicable methods such as:
- Visual Testing (VT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Radiographic Testing (RT) (if certified)
- Eddy Current Testing (ET) (if applicable)
- Interpret inspection results and identify discontinuities or defects.
- Ensure inspections comply with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API, ISO).
- Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports and documentation.
- Review welding procedures, drawings, and quality requirements before inspection.
- Verify calibration and proper functioning of NDT equipment.
- Coordinate with production, welding, and quality teams to resolve inspection findings.
- Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) when required.
- Maintain inspection records and traceability documentation.
- Follow company quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) procedures.
- Participate in internal and external audits as required.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related technical discipline.
- NDT Level II certification in one or more methods (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT) as per SNT-TC-1A, ISO 9712, or equivalent.
- Level III certification is an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in NDT inspection.
- Experience in fabrication, manufacturing, oil & gas, power plants, pressure vessels, pipelines, or structural steel is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of NDT methods and inspection techniques.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, AWS, ISO, and related quality standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong report writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Certifications
- ASNT Level II / ISO 9712 Level II
- CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI (preferred)
- Basic Safety / HSE Training
- Confined Space or Work at Height certification (if applicable)
Working Conditions
- Factory, fabrication yard, refinery, plant, or construction site.
- May require shift work, overtime, and travel to project locations.
- Must use appropriate PPE and comply with all safety regulations.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
