Job Summary
The Sr. Engineer / Assistant Manager – Production (Injection Molding Process) is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring day-to-day production activities in the Injection Molding department to achieve production targets while ensuring quality, productivity, machine efficiency, cost optimization, and compliance with safety standards. The role involves manpower management, process optimization, troubleshooting, continuous improvement initiatives, and coordination with Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, and Planning teams.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
- Execute daily production plans as per customer demand and production schedules.
- Ensure optimum utilization of Injection Molding machines, molds, manpower, and raw materials.
- Monitor hourly production output and minimize production losses.
- Achieve production targets while maintaining quality and delivery commitments.
- Coordinate with PPC for production planning and schedule adherence.
Injection Molding Process Control
- Set, monitor, and optimize process parameters for consistent product quality.
- Troubleshoot molding defects such as:
- Short Shot
- Flash
- Sink Marks
- Flow Marks
- Burn Marks
- Silver Streaks
- Weld Lines
- Warpage
- Air Traps
- Black Specks
- Optimize machine cycle time without compromising product quality.
- Ensure first-off approval before mass production.
- Monitor process capability and reduce process variation.
Machine & Mold Management
- Coordinate mold changing activities and reduce mold changeover time (SMED).
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
- Coordinate with Maintenance and Tool Room for machine and mold breakdowns.
- Monitor mold health and recommend repairs or modifications.
- Ensure proper mold storage and handling practices.
Quality Management
- Ensure production as per approved quality standards and customer specifications.
- Work closely with QA/QC & IPQC teams for process control.
- Reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure traceability and production documentation.
Productivity & Cost Optimization
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Reduce cycle time and machine idle time.
- Optimize consumption of raw materials, color masterbatch, and regrind.
- Monitor production efficiency and implement productivity improvement projects.
- Minimize wastage, scrap generation, and material losses.
Manpower Management
- Lead and supervise production supervisors, engineers, operators, and helpers.
- Allocate manpower based on production priorities.
- Conduct shift meetings and daily production reviews.
- Train operators on machine operation, quality standards, safety, and SOPs.
- Evaluate operator performance and recommend skill development.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and TPM initiatives.
- Participate in cost-saving and process improvement projects.
- Analyze production data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Improve machine utilization and process stability.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with EHS policies and safe work practices.
- Conduct safety toolbox talks and risk assessments.
- Ensure proper use of PPE.
- Maintain housekeeping as per 5S standards.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, BRC, GMP, HACCP (if applicable), and customer requirements.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare Daily Production Reports (DPR).
- Monitor production KPIs and prepare MIS reports.
- Maintain machine downtime records.
- Record rejection analysis and corrective actions.
- Prepare monthly production performance reports.
Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
