The Restaurant Storekeeper is responsible for managing and maintaining the inventory of food, beverages, and supplies. This role ensures that all inventory is correctly stored, well-organized, and replenished as needed. The storekeeper works closely with kitchen staff and the management team to ensure efficient operations and prevent any supply shortages that could affect service quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records of all stock items, including quantities, descriptions, and locations.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and place orders as necessary to avoid shortages.
- Track expiry dates and ensure proper rotation of stock to minimize waste.
- Receiving and Inspection
- Receive deliveries of food, beverages, and supplies, verifying that the correct items and quantities are delivered.
- Inspect the quality of received goods to ensure they meet the restaurant’s standards.
- Report any discrepancies or issues with deliveries to suppliers or management.
- Storage and Organization
- Store items in an organized manner, ensuring they are easily accessible and stored in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage.
- Collaboration with Staff
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure they have the necessary ingredients and supplies for daily operations.
- Communicate effectively with the management team regarding inventory levels, potential shortages, and ordering needs.
- Record-Keeping and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all transactions related to inventory.
- Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, usage, and wastage for management review.
- Implement and monitor inventory control systems and procedures.
- Cost Management
- Assist in managing inventory costs by monitoring prices, seeking cost-effective suppliers, and minimizing waste.
- Help in preparing budgets and forecasts related to inventory needs.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all storage practices comply with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to inventory management.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and basic computer skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items as required.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
